Since the founding of China, we have been working hard to eliminate backwardness at home. We are well aware of the fate of a backward country, so we are relentless in promoting national development to keep up with the pace of the world. Nowadays, the process of global economic integration is accelerating, and maintaining friendly and cooperative relations between countries has become the best choice to achieve common development. This model of cooperation not only helps to achieve win-win cooperation, but also gives us a clear understanding of the shortcomings of our countries, so as to ensure that we do not fall behind others. China has maintained ** exchanges with many countries, and of course, not all of them are good partners of ours.
In Asia, there is an island country that does not have a good relationship with us, but I am not going to talk about Japan today, but Sri Lanka. In the past, we have always maintained friendly cooperation with Sri Lanka, after all, we are both Asian countries, and China has always been a helpful country. Sri Lanka is lagging behind in all aspects of development, so China has helped them build a lot of infrastructure to promote their development. At that time, not many countries were willing to help Sri Lanka, mainly because the country was so poor that they might not be rewarded for helping them. When our country was just founded, we were in the initial stage of full-scale construction.
At that time, Sri Lanka asked China for assistance, and it was incumbent upon us to lend a helping hand. Before our own blueprint was fully developed, China provided tens of billions of dollars in financial aid to Sri Lanka and decided to assist in the construction of an international port, namely the Hambantota port, which will bring great convenience to Sri Lanka's domestic economic development. The construction of this port is entirely undertaken by China, and Sri Lanka has not invested any forces. However, they were unable to repay the funds and made a proposal to repay the debt with the port, and a 99-year port use treaty was signed.
One might think that the 99-year tenure may not seem that valuable, but the port's location could enhance China's influence on the world stage. In addition, a large number of ships pass through the port every year, which means that China can collect tolls, so after so many years, we have not suffered. To our surprise, however, we were very disappointed that Sri Lanka later reversed their decision under pressure from the West. Our sincerity and assistance have been met with their betrayal. So, when we partnered with Sri Lanka on the construction of Colombo Port City, we included a default clause worth tens of billions to ensure that our national interests were not compromised.
This is done to prevent a repetition of the mistakes of the past. If they had kept their promises at first, we wouldn't have been so wary of them. This incident makes people think deeply, what do you think about this?Plagiarism statement: This article is an original work, without permission, plagiarism and manuscript washing are strictly prohibited, and offenders will be investigated.
