The 10th Annual Conference of the China Education 30 Forum discussed "Implementing Education Burden Reduction from the Source". Wang Wenzhan, a professor at Tsinghua University, said that the source of the heavy burden on students is society rather than educationThis view breaks with our traditional perception of reducing the burden on education.
Many people believe that the problem of heavy student burden stems from the shortcomings of the education system and the examination system. Professor Wang Wenzhan pointed out that the root of the problem lies in society, in fact, in our expectations for education and children.
Two years after the implementation of the double reduction policy, although students have less time in school, less homework, and fewer off-campus training institutions, in fact, the learning burden of primary school students has not been reduced. The school teacher does not assign homework, but the parents assign it themselvesThe cram school for the subject on the bright side has disappeared, but the children are still secretly cram training during the weekend holiday.
This reality reminds us that, while some progress has been made in reducing the burden on education, there is still a long way to go before the real goal is achieved. We need to deeply understand the essence of education burden reduction and find out the real reasons for the overburden of students in order to effectively solve the problem. The root cause of the overburdening of students lies in society, not just the problems of the education system and the examination system.
Our expectations of education, of our children, have led to problems with the education system and the examination system. We expect our children to excel and become the pillars of the future, and this expectation adds to the learning burden of children. To truly reduce the burden on education, we need to change not only the education system and examination system, but also our expectations for education and our expectations for children.
We need to understand,Children are first and foremost children, and they need time to play, explore, and enjoy the joy of childhood. What they need is a healthy, happy, and free environment to grow up, not a learning machine full of stress and anxiety. The double reduction policy is just the beginning of our progress towards this goal. We look forward to the joint efforts of the whole society to truly reduce the burden of education, so that every child can grow up happily and have a bright childhood and future.
