SDS (Safety Data Sheet) is a comprehensive description document of 16 items of information on chemical composition information, physical and chemical parameters, combustion and explosion performance, toxicity, environmental hazards, as well as safe use, storage conditions, leakage emergency treatment, transportation regulations and requirements provided to customers by hazardous chemicals production or sales enterprises in accordance with regulatory requirements, and is also one of the information transmission carriers required by the EU REACH regulations.

MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) is the English abbreviation of Material Safety Data Sheet, and MSDS is also often translated into chemical safety data sheets. It provides 16 contents such as physical and chemical parameters, combustion and explosion performance, health hazards, safe use and storage, leakage disposal, first aid measures, and relevant laws and regulations. It is a comprehensive legal document on the characteristics of chemicals provided by chemical production and sales enterprises to downstream customers and the public in accordance with legal requirements.
In European countries, the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) is also known as the Safety Data Sheet (SDS). The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) uses SDS terminology, while the United States, Canada, Australia, and many other countries in Asia use MSDS terminology.
MSDS and SDS are just two different abbreviations of MSDS in different standards, which play the same role on the ** chain, and the difference in content also depends mainly on the hazard classification and format editing standards adopted. In China's standard GBT16483-2000 before 2008, it was called CSDS, and in 2008, the revised standard GBT16483-2008 "Chemical Safety Data Sheet Content and Project Sequence" was unified with the International Organization for Standardization, abbreviated as SDS. The two abbreviations SDS and MSDS play exactly the same role on the ** chain, with only some slight differences in content.
The MSDS regulations and standards implemented by major countries in the world are as follows:
Both the European Union and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) use the term SDS, but in the United States, Canada, Australia and many countries in Asia, SDS (Safety Data Sheet) can also be used as MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet), and the two technical documents basically have the same function.
In China's standard GBT16483-2000 before 2008, it was called CSDS, and in 2008, the revised standard GBT16483-2008 "Chemical Safety Data Sheet Content and Project Sequence" was unified with the International Organization for Standardization, abbreviated as SDS.
Article 313 Clauses Provide:
1. The non-gaseous mixture contains a single concentration of 1% (w w) of hazardous substances that are harmful to health or the environment;
2. or a single concentration of 01% SVHC substance;
3. or a single concentration of 02% (v v) of hazardous substances that are harmful to health or the environment;
4. or substances that exceed the EU workplace exposure limits.
In addition, although the above conditions are not met, when the importer takes the initiative to request it, or the industry is more strict on the classification and labeling of substances, the enterprise also needs to pass the SDS on its ** chain.
CLP classification and labelling information must be included in the SDS, which must be available in the official language of the Member State in which the substance or mixture is placed on the market.
在下列情況中,提供者应時更新。
In general, SDS does not have a definite expiration date. But SDS is not permanent. The content of the SDS shall be updated in a timely manner in the event of any of the following circumstances:
1. The ratio of substances and components in the products targeted by SDS changes
2. The legal basis and requirements formulated by SDS have been changed
3. The products targeted by SDS are found to have new hazard characteristics
4. SDS has new data or understanding for toxicological information and ecological information of substances.
New timely information marked as "revised" shall also be provided free of charge to recipients within the preceding 12 months. Any updated information should include a registration number.

What substances need to be written SDS
According to the REACH Regulation, when a product meets one of the following conditions, the product supplier needs to edit the SDS and pass it down the chain to the importer, downstream users and distributors
Article 31Article 1 stipulates:
1. Substances or mixtures that are classified as dangerous goods according to CLP;
2. or substances classified as PBT or VPVB according to Annex XIII of REACH;
3. or substances that are classified as having irreversible and serious effects on the human body or the environment according to REACH Article 59 (referring to the SVHC Candidate List).
4. When the product does not meet the above conditions, but the competent authority or importer requires it, or the same industry has stricter requirements for product substance classification and labeling, the enterprise also needs to pass SDS on its ** chain.
