Volkswagen has announced that its Golf will receive a facelift at the end of January. The exterior of the new car will be retouched, driver assistance systems and power units will be updated, and a new generation of multi-** systems will also be introduced.

Volkswagen said that the Golf is the core product of the brand, representing the term best-selling model, which is almost unmatched by almost no other car. The Golf has sold more than 37 million units in eight generations over the past 50 years. To celebrate golf's 50th birthday, there will be a series of celebrations. Golf has not only shaped the way Germans move, but has also influenced the world. And most importantly, Volkswagen expects more than just a retrospective: the world premiere of the facelifted Golf will take place at the end of January – and just like previous generations, the new car will bring many innovations into series production.

Volkswagen's first Golf in 1974 was another automotive revolution after Beetle: it was front-engined, front-wheel drive (instead of rear-wheel drive), and more cabin space thanks to a large tailgate and foldable rear seat backs. In addition, the boxy design by Giorgetto Giugiaro has become the new style for the masses. The Golf quickly became a true mass and sold a million units in 1976 alone. So far, more than 37 million units have been delivered. This hatchback became the most successful car in Europe and the highest-selling Volkswagen of all time.

Volkswagen emphasised that with each facelifted model, the Golf incorporates newer, more advanced technology, safety concepts and convenience features. In addition to technologies such as the monitorable catalyst converter and ABS anti-lock braking system, but also airbags, cruise control and driver assistance systems, as well as light gasoline and plug-in hybrids, are also popularized.

In January 2024, Volkswagen will get an upgrade for the 8th generation Golf. A more refined visual design, new assistance and powertrains, as well as a new generation of multi-system and software will be introduced. Golf's world premiere is just a few weeks away, and pre-orders are expected to begin in spring 2024.
