He Zhihua introduced that in recent years, China's foreign-aid medical undertaking has formed a new situation based on medical teams and jointly promoted by clinical medicine and public health. In the face of a global public health emergency, China's medical teams are duty-bound to provide emergency assistance in the most rapid and selfless way. For example, during the outbreak of Ebola hemorrhagic fever in some countries in West Africa in 2014, China successively dispatched more than 1,200 clinical and public health experts to rescue these countries where the epidemic occurred, and treated more than 800 patientsMore than 30,000 public health trainings have successfully achieved "winning battles and zero infections", and many countries have called China a "true friend".
After the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, China quickly dispatched 38 Chinese anti-epidemic experts to 34 countries under the tremendous pressure of epidemic prevention and control, and also guided the long-term Chinese medical teams stationed in more than 50 countries to assist the host countries in epidemic prevention and control. This expert group and the foreign aid operation for epidemic prevention and control are the most concentrated, widespread, and urgent humanitarian assistance in the history of the People's Republic of China, and also demonstrate China's responsibility as a major country. At the same time, we announced that vaccines are a global public good, providing more than 2.2 billion doses to more than 120 countries and international organizations. Adhering to the concept of "One Family", we are not only responsible for the safety and health of our people, but also contribute to the cause of global public health.
During the pandemic, China's foreign-aid medical team also launched innovative measures such as "cloud clinics" according to local conditions, which not only helped local residents, but also provided consultation and medical security for millions of Chinese citizens and overseas Chinese, including compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.
Over the past 60 years, our foreign aid medical team members have overcome unimaginable difficulties in an extremely complex and difficult environment, batch after batch, one baton after another, and they have done their best to do a good job in foreign aid medical work, and have also established a deep relationship with the local people, and also won the love of the people of developing countries. Our medical team in Algeria has delivered more than 2.07 million newborns there, so many of the children in this country are named 'China'.
