Before the reform of the armed forces, in addition to managing the first, second and third corps of the armed police, the Armed Police Headquarters also had the Geological Research Institute of the Armed Police and the Teaching Brigade of the Armed Police Headquarters. The predecessor of the Geological Research Institute of the Armed Police Force was the famous Geological Research Institute of the People's Liberation Army Infrastructure Engineering Corps, which was established in 1981 and moved to Langfang, Hebei Province the following year. In January 1985, the Institute of Geology and other fraternal units were assigned to the Armed Police Sequence and renamed the "Geological Research Institute of the Armed Police", which directly belonged to the Armed Police Headquarters at the regular army level, and was the only application-oriented military scientific research unit in the whole army with geological research as its main business.

According to public information, since its establishment, the Institute of Geology of the Armed Police Force has always kept in mind its responsibilities and missions, is committed to serving the front-line troops, acting as the "staff and think tank" of the first army, transforming scientific research and technology into direct productivity, and submitting a total of 227 scientific research achievements, of which 12 have reached the international leading or advanced level, and some academic achievements have filled many gaps in China. Because of its outstanding contributions, the Institute of Geology of the Armed Police Force has been awarded the honorary titles of "National Advanced Unit of Scientific Research" and "National Model Geological Exploration Unit". In addition, the Institute of Geology of the Armed Police Force also has a postdoctoral research station, which is one of the four "station" units of the armed police force before the military reform. In addition, the teaching brigade of the ** command of the armed police also has a long history.

Its predecessor was the former Armed Police ** Technical School (known as the "Fifth Technical School of the Infrastructure Engineering Corps ** Command in the early days"), which was established in 1981. In January 1985, the former Armed Police ** Technical School was reorganized and renamed the "Armed Police ** Command Teaching Brigade", which was located in Xiangyang, Hubei. This was also the only large-scale education and training unit under the Armed Police Force at that time that integrated teaching, training, management and support. According to the official announcement, the teaching brigade of the former Armed Police Headquarters is an advanced training base dedicated to training "professional talents and technical cadres" for the Armed Police Force. In its 37-year history, it has trained nearly 20,000 officers and soldiers for front-line troops, and seven scientific research projects have won the achievement awards of the state, the army and the armed police force.

However, in the reform of the army, in order to implement the reform policy of "the army is the army, the police is the police, and the people are the people", according to the "Implementation Plan for the Transformation and Reform of the Armed Police ** Army" approved by the ** and the Military Commission, in September 2018, the Teaching Brigade of the ** Command of the Armed Police and the ** Institute of Geology of the Armed Police were retired from active service as a whole, transferred to the Ministry of Natural Resources, and merged into the China Geological Survey, and the active establishment was changed to a career establishment. The two units were merged to establish the "Geophysical Survey Center of China Geological Survey", which is located in Langfang City, Hebei Province, and is a public welfare institution at the department level. On September 22, 2020, the Geophysical Survey Center of the China Geological Survey was officially established in Langfang City, Hebei Province, and is directly led and managed by the Natural Resources Comprehensive Survey Command Center of the China Geological Survey at the bureau level.

The predecessor of the Natural Resources Comprehensive Survey Command Center of the China Geological Survey was the former Armed Police ** Command. At present, the main responsibilities of the Geophysical Survey Center of the China Geological Survey include surface area geophysical survey, basic theoretical and applied research, geological survey field practice and skills training, etc., and is committed to providing services for the construction of national ecological civilization and national energy and resource security.
