For many accounting professionals, getting USCPA (Certified Public Accountant in America) certification is a dream they pursue. Although the USCPA exam is not easy, as long as you are willing to put in the effort and perseverance, I believe you will be able to achieve excellent results!
Today, we are honored to have an outstanding student, Lou, who shared with us his experience of passing the USCPA exam in four subjects at one time. As a full-time VP Finance Corporate Controller, I believe everyone is full of curiosity about his preparation method. Next, let's take a look!
A few years ago, a colleague of mine helped me register for the USCPA exam. However, due to a busy schedule, I never really started preparing for the exam. Today, my colleague has successfully obtained a practicing certificate, which I am deeply envious.
A year ago, I decided to go back to Canada to spend some time with my family, so I decided to use this time to prepare for the USCPA exam by the way. Since I chose to study part-time Xi, I had plenty of time to prepare for the exam. Although it took a year from the beginning of reading books to the final test results, the Xi state in the first half of the year was not ideal, and it was in the last four or five months that I really devoted myself to preparing for the exam.
Like everyone else, my Xi journey began with lectures. In my opinion, listening to lectures is the most important part of the whole learning and Xi process, and it is directly related to whether we can really grasp every knowledge point. In the process of listening to the lesson, we should try to avoid mechanical memorization and instead focus on understanding, because only truly understood knowledge can make a deep impression on our minds.
When you're done with the book, the next step is to do the questions. The purpose of doing the questions is to better grasp the knowledge points in the book. In the process of doing questions, don't pursue accuracy and time too much, but understand the idea and test point of each question. If you encounter something vague about your knowledge, be sure to turn to the book to figure it out. Don't memorize the answers, because it's basically useless, because the likelihood of encountering the same question is very small. In the process of doing questions, you will easily find your knowledge weaknesses, at this time, you can go back and listen carefully to the courseware and read the book, which will be easier to deepen the impression.
I chose to prepare for the four exams together, although it was a bit hard, but with reasonable arrangement, I was able to master each knowledge point and avoid confusion. It is recommended that candidates can take FAR and REG first, because there are many cross-cutting knowledge points in these two courses, and the preparation for FAR is also very helpful for AUD preparation. In the AUD exam, the knowledge points of FAR will be used in many places. In addition, it is important to learn to consult the relevant literature during the exam, especially in the AUD exam. My last big question about correcting errors in audit reports was done by reviewing the literature. Hope these suggestions are helpful to everyone!
Although the USCPA test is in English, it is not too difficult. For candidates whose English skills are not good enough, there is no need to worry too much. Because the difficulty of the USCPA test is not particularly high, you can improve your English proficiency and test-taking ability through multiple practice Xi and mock tests.
In general, as long as candidates carefully review the Xi and actively prepare for the exam, they will be able to successfully pass the USCPA exam and get a USCPA license.
