Wang Jian of Qi, son of King Xiang of Qi, the last monarch of Tian Qi, reigned from 265 BC to 221 BC.

At the beginning of Qi Wangjian's accession to the throne, because of his young age, his mother and queen became the de facto ruler of Qi.

Since the state of Qi was defeated by the alliance of the five countries during the reign of King Qi, the national strength had already collapsed. On the other hand, the Qin State in the west, with the efforts of successive generations of Ming monarchs, its military strength and economic strength far exceeded that of the Kwantung countries, and when Qin Shi Huang ascended the throne, the Qin State put the plan of annihilating the six Kwantung countries on the agenda.

At that time, in order to destroy the six Kwantung countries to resist Qin and cut off the six Kwantung countries one by one, the Qin State adopted a strategy of distant friendship and close attack, and has been attracting the Qi State that is far away from them. In order to prevent Qi from getting involved in the war again, the queen had to serve Qin carefully, and Qi was thus given a brief period of peace during Qin's attack on the Three Jins.

In 249 BC, Qi Wangjian's mother died, and his uncle Hou Sheng served as the minister of Qi and took charge of Qi.

After that, Qin's attack on the Sanjin became more and more intense, and Hou Sheng received a large amount of bribes from Qin, but still adopted a pro-Qin national policy, and always persuaded Qi Wangjian to refuse to cooperate with the Kwantung countries to resist Qin, so as to curry favor with Qin and obtain respite peace. Under the instigation of Hou Sheng, King Jian of Qi not only watched Qin annex the five kingdoms of Han, Zhao, Wei, Chu, and Yan one by one, but also sent envoys to Qin to congratulate each country that Qin had destroyed.

In 221 BC, the five Kwantung kingdoms were destroyed by the Qin state one after another, and the Qin army finally attacked the Qi state.

At that time, the Qi State had not experienced war for many years, and its war preparedness had long been abandoned, and the Qi people did not have the courage to pick up the ** to face the brave and invincible Qin army. Qi Wangjian then listened to Hou Sheng's suggestion and led the Manchu Dynasty out of the city to surrender, and the Qin army also wiped out the Qi State without blood, completing the feat of unification.

After Qi Wangjian surrendered, he was placed by Qin Shi Huang in a deserted remote area, and later starved to death due to lack of food, and Tian Qi became extinct.
