Health for All says
Punk wellness, a term that has become popular in recent years, describes an unconventional way of wellness. Some young people are looking for individuality and differentiation, combining elements of punk with wellness, forming such a trend. However, is a regimen like this really healthy? As an experienced veteran TCM practitioner, I will analyze this issue from the perspective of TCM.
First of all, punk wellness focuses on spontaneity and autonomy. This concept is meritorious, because TCM emphasizes the independence of the individual and focuses on the individual's physical conditioning. However, some of the advice in a punk regimen isn't for everyone, as different physiques require targeted treatments. Only by choosing a health care method according to the physical characteristics of the individual can we achieve better health care results.
Secondly, some of the practices that often appear in punk health care do not conform to the concept of traditional Chinese medicine. For example, excessive dressing up and makeup may cause irritation to **, resulting in the retention of damp heat and qi, which is not conducive to the health of the body. And hair dyeing, tattoos and other behaviors are a kind of harm to the body. Traditional Chinese medicine focuses on "conditioning the inside and healing the outside", that is, achieving the effect of external beauty through internal conditioning. Therefore, punk wellness needs to be cautious in this regard.
Third, punk wellness emphasizes freedom and liberation, but in the process of wellness, the freedom of the individual cannot be left unchecked. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that there is a balance of qi, blood, yin and yang in the human body, and only when this balance reaches a stable state can the body function normally and stay healthy. And indulging one's impulses and desires often disrupts this balance, leading to physical discomfort and even illness. Therefore, in the pursuit of freedom, punk regimens should pay attention to maintaining the balance of the body.
However, although there are some practices in punk wellness that do not conform to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, there are also some merits. For example, punk wellness focuses on exercise and exercise, which is consistent with the view of traditional Chinese medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine believes that the movement of the body is an important means to maintain the smooth flow of qi and blood and prevent diseases. In addition, some of the eating habits in the punk regimen are similar to some of the regimen methods of Chinese medicine. For example, brewing black coffee and drinking bitter tea advocated in punk health care are essentially using bitter foods to clear away heat and detoxify and strengthen the spleen and stomach.
In short, punk wellness, as an emerging form of wellness, contains some merits and some shortcomings. As a TCM practitioner, I think it is important to understand your physical characteristics and choose a regimen that suits you according to your individual needs. At the same time, we should also maintain respect for the knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine, which embodies the Chinese nation's thousands of years of health preservation experience.
