Brentford's technical director Leigh Dikkers has admitted striker Ivan Toney could leave the team in the near future, with Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly expressing interest in the player. Toney scored 20 Premier League goals for Brentford in 2022-23 but is expected to start playing again in January next year after being embroiled in a betting scandal.
However, he only has 18 months left on his current contract, and if he does not renew it, Brentford will be under pressure. Dekkers has acknowledged his interest in Tony and said any potential buyers would need to pay a hefty transfer fee to secure his services.
Brentford are allegedly asking for £100 million in *** Tony, which could make a significant profit compared to the £4.8 million they paid in 2020. Neither Arsenal nor Chelsea are likely to be willing to pay such a high fee, especially given Arsenal's interest in strengthening their midfield and Chelsea's options in terms of Victor Gjokres and Victor Osimion. However, Osimion is expected to sign a new contract with Napoli, which includes about 1A £1.2bn release clause that could lure Chelsea into action.
