The Weiya Railway is located between Weihe Town and Yabuli Ski Resort in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province.
Yabuli Ski Resort is a national 4A-level scenic spot, composed of three peaks of Zhangguangcai Ridge in the Changbai Mountains, with an altitude of 1375 meters (Daguo Helmet Mountain Rice (Erguo Helmet Mountain Rice (Sanguo Helmet Mountain). Russian (transliteration) "Yabloni", which means "orchard of fruit trees". Founded in 1980 and affiliated to the Heilongjiang Sports Commission, Yabuli Ski Resort is mainly composed of five competitions, training venues and two tourist ski resorts, including alpine ski resorts, freestyle ski resorts, ski jumping ski resorts, cross-country ski resorts and biathlon ski resorts. Yabuli became famous for its successful hosting of the 3rd Asian Winter Games in 1996 and the 24th Winter Universiade in 2009. Now it has become the largest snow sports venue in China, with the most advanced facilities and the most superior conditions. Yabuli is also a training base for China's Antarctic expeditions.
The Weiya Railway starts from Weihe Town in the north and ends at Yabuli in the south, which is jointly invested and built by Harbin Railway Bureau Group and Heilongjiang Province, and is a supporting project for the 2009 Winter Congress. At the beginning of 2006, preparations began. In December 2007, it was completed and opened to traffic. In December 2008, the line speed improvement project was successful.
The total length of the railway is 25 kilometers, and the current standard is: national railway level two, single line, internal combustion engine traction, semi-automatic blocking, and the design speed of 100 kilometers per hour.
The Weiya Railway is interconnected with the Binsui Railway (Harbin to Suifenhe) in the Weihe River.
The completion and opening of the Weiya Railway will not only greatly improve the transportation conditions of Yabuli Ski Resort, but also become the first channel to promote the development of tourism in Heilongjiang Province.
Judging from the operation in recent years, it is the biggest regret that the Reed-Asia Railway cannot connect to the Harbin High-speed Railway.
