Dear readers, thank you for reading my article in your busy schedule, this is an affirmation of my efforts, but also the motivation to continue to create, I would like to extend my most sincere respect to you, I hope to get one of you"Attention"Thank you!

Of course, one of the most important tools for astronomers is the telescope. Most people think that Galileo invented this remarkable device, but this is not the case. Of course, he built a telescope and observed the night sky through it for the first time. But it turned out that he was not the first inventor of the telescope. So who created it first?

It is precisely because Galileo first used a telescope to observe the night sky that most people began to think that he was the first inventor of such a device. In fact, the telescope, or rather the telescope, was first demonstrated in The Hague as early as 1608 by the Dutch spectacle manufacturer Hans Lippershey. However, his patent was rejected because other masters, such as Zachary Janssen from Middelburg and Jacob Métis from Alkmaar, already had similar telescopes.

In his telescope, Hans uses two glass lenses in the lens barrel to magnify distant objects. He was undoubtedly the leading candidate for the invention of the telescope, but Lipper may not have been the first to come up with the idea. At least two other Dutch opticians are working on the same concept at the same time. However, Lipper is credited with inventing the telescope because he was the first to patent it.

When Galileo learned of this invention, he built his own triple telescope in 1609. In the same year, he improved his system, creating a pipe about half a meter long and magnified eight times. Later, he created a pipe that could provide a 32x magnification, which was a record for the time.

In the final version, his telescope was about a meter long and had a lens diameter of 45 cm, this is a very imperfect instrument with all possible aberrations, but at the time it was a great achievement. Using this device, Galileo was able to make a series of extraordinary discoveries, namely: the phases of Venus, mountains and craters on the Moon, the moons of Jupiter, the black dots on the Sun, the stars in the Milky Way.

By the way, the name "telescope" was proposed in 1611 by the Greek mathematician Giovanni Demisiani for one of Galileo's instruments. Galileo himself used the term "perspicillum" (spectacles) to describe his telescope.

Interestingly, many believe that the first inventor of the telescope was Leonard Digges, a famous mathematician and surveyor in the 16th century. Most of his works were published by his son, Thomas Diggs. Thomas Digges' 1570 notes describe how Leonard Digges used "proportional glass" to observe distant objects. Some scientists, such as astronomer and historian Colin Ronan, claim that it describes a reflecting or refracting telescope built between 1540 and 1559, but its vague descriptions and stated features make it doubtful.

The only Leonard Diggs ** I've found. In any case, ** is sure that it is him.

Thus, the myth that Galileo was the first inventor of the telescope persists precisely because he contributed greatly to the improvement of this technology and the use of celestial observation devices. But in fact, astronomical historians are not entirely sure who was the first inventor of the telescope, and the main contender remains the Dutch glassmaker Hans Lipperch.
