On the afternoon of December 21, the 10th issue of the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Hot Spot Lecture Hall" with the theme of "Promoting the Development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area with High Quality under the New International Economic Situation" was broadcast. Co-hosted by the Guangdong Association for the Promotion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation and the Fung Group Li & Fung Research Centre, the event invited five experts and scholars from Beijing, Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to share their insights and suggestions on the development of the Greater Bay Area from different perspectives. Chen Zongyi, Chief Operating Officer of Miramar Group under Henderson Land Development and member of the Expert Group of the Policy Unit of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, served as the moderator.

The keynote speech of this lecture hall was delivered by Xu Bu, Chairman of the Institute of Global Development and Security of Jiangsu University, Member of the High-level Advisory Committee of the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Former Ambassador of China to ASEAN, Former Ambassador to Chile, and former President of the China Institute of International Studies. From the perspective of the international situation and Sino-US relations, he analyzed that the world is currently in a period of great turmoil, adjustment, and change, and that China has played an important role in maintaining the stability and development of the world. He pointed out that 2023 is the 10th year of the implementation of the Belt and Road Cooperation Initiative, and China and Southeast Asia have close economic and trade cooperation and great achievements, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, as the forefront of China's reform and opening up, should continue to play an important supporting role in the construction of the Belt and Road Initiative, seize the opportunity to strengthen economic and trade cooperation with Southeast Asia.

Cheung Ka-man, Senior Advisor of Li & Fung Research Centre, Member of the Expert Group of the Policy Unit of the Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and Member of the Belt and Road and Greater Bay Area Advisory Committee of the Development Council of Hong Kong**, gave his professional views and suggestions on how to enhance Hong Kong's competitiveness and participate in the development of the Northern Metropolis from Hong Kong's perspective. He believes that Hong Kong should maintain its existing competitive advantages, such as finance, law and education, while creating incremental competitive advantages, such as technology, innovation and digital economy. He suggested that Hong Kong should strengthen co-operation with the Mainland, give full play to the role of key platforms such as the Northern Metropolis, the Loop Co-operation Zone and the San Tin Technopole, build and extend the science and technology industry chain in the Greater Bay Area, strengthen the connection with the manufacturing industry in the Pearl River Delta, and actively promote the development of Hong Kong's fintech industry.

From the perspective of the field of science and technology, Qiu Dakan, a member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong, President of the Hong Kong Information Technology Federation and executive vice president of the Promotion Association, analyzed the current situation and prospects of Hong Kong in the development of science and technology innovation, as well as the policy support of the state and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region for the development of science and technology innovation in Hong Kong. He said that the development of science and technology innovation is a national task that Hong Kong must actively undertake, and it is also the future development direction of Hong Kong. He suggested that Hong Kong should give full play to its own advantages, such as basic research and talent training in higher education institutions, cultivate a local innovation and technology ecosystem and industrial organizations, complement the advantages of the mainland, and promote the development of science and technology innovation in various aspects such as scientific research cooperation, talent flow, and cross-border data.

Liu Chengkun, Director of the Institute of Sustainable Development of Macau University of Science and Technology and Professor of the School of Business, discussed the impact of the digital economy on the global economic pattern, the world's innovation map, the changes of the times, and the opportunities of the digital economy for the sustainable and high-quality development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. He believes that Hong Kong and Macao should play a unique role in the development of the digital economy in the Greater Bay Area, build a digital economy cooperation platform between Hong Kong, Macao and other cities in the Greater Bay Area, strengthen cooperation and coordination between Hong Kong and Macao, meet the needs and resources of all aspects of the digital economy, strengthen talent training and exchanges, and improve the support of laws and regulations, and promote cooperation and mutual recognition of digital economy laws and regulations in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao.

Li Xiaofeng, professor and doctoral supervisor of international economics at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, and director of the Expert Committee of the Southern International Production Capacity and Technical Cooperation Center, analyzed the important position of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the construction of the "Belt and Road" from the perspective of the development of the "Belt and Road", and how to deepen the cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to provide strong support for the construction of the "Belt and Road". He pointed out that the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is an important window of China's reform and opening up, and it is also an important node of the "Belt and Road" construction, and it is necessary to give full play to the characteristic advantages of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, such as finance, logistics, science and technology, culture, etc., and integrate the construction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into the "Belt and Road" construction more deeply, and contribute to the "Belt and Road" to achieve higher quality and higher level of new development.
