Recently, the gate customs under Gongbei Customs intercepted 243 live turtles at Gongbei Port, all of which were identified as Oriental mothrodermal turtles, which belong to the Appendix (2023 Edition) of the International Convention on Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) Appendix (2023 Edition).

At about 17 o'clock on November 13, mainland passenger Zhou entered the country through the "undeclared channel" of the customs in the passenger inspection hall of Gongbei Port. Customs officers at the scene found that he was only carrying a small bag and deliberately avoided the X-ray machine, so he was intercepted for inspection. Upon further inspection, Customs officers found two black net pockets containing a large number of small live turtles of similar appearance, totalling 243 turtles.

On December 6, the Gongbei Customs Technology Center identified that the live turtles were all Oriental mothrothopic turtles, which are listed as protected species in the appendix (2023 edition) of the International Convention on Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). At present, the case has been further handled in accordance with relevant regulations.
