In the previous lessons, we have learned about some of the features of Word. Today, we're going to focus on the Styles feature group.
In the style group, you can see the styles of various presets. To use these styles, all you have to do is select a piece of text and click on the corresponding style. This feature can help you format text quickly and increase your productivity.
When we click on the other styling options, we can observe that different styles will have different effects. In fact, these styles are pre-packaged with settings such as fonts, font sizes, colors, and paragraph formatting. When you need to apply the same settings again, you can simply select the style without having to repeat the formatting operations one by one. In this way, we can greatly improve our work efficiency and make the layout of the document more concise and standardized.
The styles here are all preset in word, we choose a body style, here I first select all the provinces in the Chinese file, and then apply the style of title 1.
Then select all the cities and give them a title 3, this style, everyone looks at the effect.
By using styles, we were able to quickly implement the desired setup the first time. If the preset style does not meet our needs, we can also click on the "New Style" button to create a new style. This way, we can customize the style according to our needs and make the format of the document more in line with our hearts.
After clicking the "New Style" button, the interface of creating a new style according to the format will pop up, and then I click on the name here to modify the name, and then click the "Modify button" below to set our style.
When creating a new style, there are a few options that we need to be aware of. First of all,Let's take a look at the Style Datum option, which refers to the style on which the new style we create is modified. For example, if "Heading 3" is currently selected, then we create a new style that modifies the "Heading 3" style. This way, we can quickly create a style that meets our needs and make the format of the document more standardized.
In addition, "Subsequent Paragraph Style" means that after we have applied the "New Style Created", when we hit the enter key to wrap the new text, the manually entered text will automatically be formatted as "Heading 6".
Let's look at the style types here, where there are paragraphs, characters, links, paragraphs and characters, **, and lists, which represent the styles that we create will act on **.
To make it easier to distinguish between style types, first, let's select the Paragraph style, and then add an underscore in the Format option. Once we've done that, we confirm the settings and the style is created.
Next, we'll position our cursor over the text and select "Apply Style" to "Style 4" that we just created. Whether we select an entire paragraph of text, a line within it, or certain characters in a paragraph, this style will be applied to the entire paragraph. This is because the style type we chose is "paragraph", so no matter what range we choose, this style will apply to the entire paragraph.
Next, let's create a new style, named "Style 6". Click the "Modify" button and select "Character" as the style type. Again, add an underline to the style to distinguish it, and then confirm the settings.
Now let's compare the differences between Style 4 and Style 6. The difference is that when we position the cursor in this piece of text and apply Style 6, there is no change in the whole text. However, when we select some characters and apply Style 6, this style only applies to the selected characters. When we select the entire text again and apply Style 6, the style will be applied to the entire text. This illustrates that different style types can affect the scope of application of styles.
Next, let's create another style and name it "Style 7". Click the "Modify" button and select "Link Paragraphs and Characters" as the style type. This style type is very powerful, and its scope of action is a bit special, so listen carefully. When we select Paragraph, this style applies to the entire paragraph, regardless of whether we select a single character, an entire paragraph of text, or a single line of characters. However, if we select Characters, then it will only work on the characters we have selected. If we want to apply to the entire text, we need to select the entire text. This is where the Link Paragraphs and Characters style type comes in.
Next, let's take a look at these options below. What these options can do is literal. Than the "Format" button, it actually contains some simple settings in the middle section. However, if we want to make more detailed settings, such as adjusting the font or paragraph formatting, we can click on this "Format" button to enter the detailed settings interface.
