On a snowy winter day, I came to Nanxiang Ancient Town, located in Jiading District, Shanghai. This ancient town has a thousand-year-old history and carries a rich cultural heritage.
As soon as you step into the ancient town, it is as if you have traveled through a time tunnel and returned to the Ming and Qing dynasties. The ancient town is built along the river, the streets and alleys are scattered, and the buildings on both sides are antique. Nanxiang in December, the climate is pleasant and the air is fresh. Although there is less blooming flowers in spring and summer, Nanxiang in winter is more tranquil and pure. At this time, there are not many tourists in the ancient town, and there are only sparse pedestrians on the streets, which seems to be extremely quiet.
Walking through the alleys of the old town, I found that the old people here like to gather on the corner of the street, bask in the sun and chat about family life. Their faces are full of traces of time, but their eyes reveal satisfaction and calmness in life. I sat in an old teahouse, ordered a pot of tea, and listened to the old people tell about the past of the ancient town, as if I had also integrated into this quiet life.
When visiting Nanxiang Ancient Town, there are several must-see attractions that should not be missed. First of all, the twin towers in the ancient town, these two towers have gone through vicissitudes and are still standing, which is the landmark building of Nanxiang. Climb to the top of the tower and overlook the entire ancient town, with a panoramic view. The second is the Guyi Garden, the lake and mountains in the garden reflect each other, and the plum in winter is even more fragrant.
In addition to the natural landscape, there are many handicraft shops and specialty snacks in the ancient town. I especially like the blue calico here, which is an ancient craft that produces a beautiful pattern and good luck. In addition, Nanxiang xiaolong is also a local specialty food, with thin skin and filling, delicious soup, and endless aftertaste.
At dusk, I reluctantly left Nanxiang. This trip gave me a deep experience of the tranquility and purity of the ancient town. I hope that in the future, Nanxiang can maintain this simple style and let more people feel this beauty.
