Among the many complaints from ride-hailing drivers about passengers, tardiness is undoubtedly one of the main ones!
It may be that in the subconscious of passengers, once they initiate the demand to get on the bus, the online ride-hailing driver is obliged to arrive at the designated pick-up point in advance and wait for him to get on the bus.
This is understandable, but many passengers do not have a sense of time, or do not think about it so much, and have already booked a car in advance when they are still waiting for the elevator to go downstairs, or even applying makeup, or before they get up and wash themselves.
However, for ride-hailing drivers, their time comes at a cost, and many times, passengers set pick-up points that do not allow long stops and risk fines. Once passengers don't get on the bus for a long time, they will be in a very embarrassing situation.
In the past, ride-hailing drivers typically had to wait for a few minutes after arriving at the pick-up point. In the face of the tardiness of passengers, online car-hailing drivers can either wait for a few minutes of precious time before they can cancel the order without responsibility, and at the same time lose the opportunity to make an order, or they can only continue to wait for passengers, suffering a dumb loss.
However, this big pain point of online car-hailing is finally expected to be solved!
Because under the continuous appeal of drivers, Didi finally launched the "overtime waiting service".
The so-called "overtime waiting service" means that when a passenger is inevitably late due to something or other reasons, he or she can initiate a "paid waiting" request to the driver within one minute after the end of the driver's free waiting time.
After the passenger sends out the invitation, the driver can choose whether to cancel the order, or continue to wait for 5 minutes and get an overtime waiting fee of 4 yuan.
In other words, in the face of passengers who are late intentionally or unintentionally, ride-hailing drivers finally have the opportunity to be compensated for the time they deserve.
At present, this function is the first to be piloted in some cities such as Beijing and Quanzhou, and it should be widely promoted across the country in the future, becoming a very basic "industry rule".
However, this regulation and system design are still difficult to satisfy everyone.
For example, isn't a 5-minute wait time still a bit too long?At the same time, the waiting fee of 4 yuan is not so impressive.
Moreover, even if it is a compensation fee of 4 yuan, I am afraid that many passengers will not be too willing to pay, and would rather place a new order. Unless there are few cars in the vicinity, or in extreme situations such as rush hour, it is difficult to get a car.
In other words, the introduction of this feature may not be able to resolve the embarrassing situation that passengers will be often late.
However, in any case, this is an improvement compared to before, and this is of course a good thing for the majority of online car-hailing drivers.
