On the occasion of the New Year, the lion dance feast is coming!On December 30, one of the major activities of the National Sports Festival in Luohu District, Shenzhen, the "Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Lion Dance Competition" was held in Dongmen Cultural Square, giving a special "New Year's gift" to citizens and tourists.
The competition was sponsored by China Sports Lottery, hosted by Shenzhen Luohu District Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau, undertaken by Shenzhen Jingwu Sports Association, and co-organized by Shenzhen Luohu District Dongmen Sub-district Office. The event invited 15 lion dance teams from Shenzhen, Hong Kong, Foshan, etc., including Foshan Feihong Lion Dance Troupe, Shenzhen Shangchuan Huang Liansheng Lion Dance Team and other first-class groups to compete on the same stage.
Lion dancing is a traditional folk culture integrating martial arts, dance, and so on. In Guangdong, the lion dance culture has a history of more than 1,000 years and has a broad mass base in the Lingnan region. The lion symbolizes good luck and is considered a beast and a symbol of strength, bravery and strength. Every festival or major event, there will be a lion dance to help the fun, and it will be passed down from generation to generation.
The event kicked off with the "Lion Boy" brought by the Shenzhen People's Primary School Youth Lion Dance Team, attracting many citizens and tourists to stop by. Subsequently, Shangchuan Huang Liansheng Lion Dance Troupe (high pile), Shenzhen Jinshengtang Dragon Master Troupe (high pile), Dongguan Guanhong Troupe, Hong Kong Yuen Long Lion Dancing Troupe, Shenzhen Huaidetang Lion Dancing Martial Arts Troupe, Guangdong Shenzhi Dragon and Lion Drum Music Dancing Troupe, Foshan Jingwu Sports Association Jingwu Lion Dancing Troupe, Shenzhen Jingwu Sports Association Lion Dancing Troupe, Hong Kong University of Malaysia British Dragon and Lion Troupe, Luohu District Traditional Wushu Promotion Association Lion Dancing Team, Shenzhen Shangwu Troupe Lion Dancing Team, Luohu District Wushu Association Dragon and Lion Dancing Team, Xiangyi Wushu Hall Lion Dancing Team, Shenzhen Shunwutang lion dance team and other people took turns to appear, showing unique skills, with exquisite technology, difficult movements, lifelike lion shape, so that the onlookers were intoxicated and breathtaking, and the scene applause, cheers, and cheers continued.
In the end, after fierce competition, the national intangible cultural heritage projects Shangchuan Huang Liansheng Lion Dance Troupe (high pile), Shenzhen Jinshengtang Dragon Division Troupe (high pile), Foshan Jingwu Sports Association Jingwu Lion Dance Troupe, and Shenzhen Jingwu Sports Association Lion Dance Troupe won the gold medal.

Since 2018, the Shenzhen-Hong Kong-Macao Lion Dance Competition has been successfully held for four times, bringing together traditional lion dance teams from Shenzhen and other cities in the Greater Bay Area.
This event is also one of the series of activities with the theme of the business district of the Luohu District National Sports Festival, combined with the image symbol of the mascot "Little Bear and Lion Dongzai" of Dongmen Pedestrian Street, which further enhances the recognition and popularity of the business district.
At the end of December, Luohu made every effort to create a national sports festival full of benefits and excitement, focusing on the four themes of business district, ecology, Shenzhen-Hong Kong and campus, Luohu District held more than 30 sports and tourism consumption activities at all levels in multiple scenes such as gymnasiums, business districts, ports, Wutong Mountain, campuses, parks, greenways and blue roads, and issued a total of 10 million sports consumption vouchers.
