Wang Jian'an, the founding general of the People's Republic of China, is a typical representative of the older generation of revolutionaries, who adhered to principles all his life, did not claim meritorious deeds, and devoted his life in obscurity. His death did not cause mourning and was not known until later. Born into a poor peasant family in Hong'an County, Hubei Province, Wang Jian'an had a very difficult childhood, starting to work in the landlord's house at an early age and being bullied.
However, this hardship did not hold him back, on the contrary, Wang Jian'an persevered and studied hard in his spare time. He then left his hometown to earn a living and served in the army, leaving soon after. In 1926, Wang Jian'an returned to his hometown, at which time revolutionary ideas had spread in Hubei, and poor peasants were inspired to start a peasant movement. Wang Jian'an quickly joined and came into contact with communist ideas, and from then on he strengthened his beliefs, and officially joined the CCP the following year.
Subsequently, Wang Jian'an participated in the famous Jute Uprising, and as the main force of the peasant uprising, he performed heroically in the battle and quickly became a key figure in the uprising team. After the tempering of this battle, Wang Jian'an became more mature, joined the Red Army, and performed very bravely in a series of battles. With the success of the Jute Uprising, the armed forces led by the CCP expanded, and under the guidance of the organization, the troops successfully established the Hubei-Henan-Anhui Soviet Region.
In November 1931, the Red Fourth Front Army was formally established, and Wang Jian'an, as an important general of the Fourth Front Army, won the trust of the organization with his military exploits. He started from the grassroots level, worked his way up, and finally served as the deputy commander of the 28th Regiment of the 10th Division, which fully demonstrated his outstanding talent. Wang Jian'an's military ability was outstanding, and he often went to the front line to command, and even charged forward in battle.
What is even more rare is that he is extremely strict with himself, and in the army, the organization attaches great importance to the education and training of soldiers. In order to improve the overall quality of the troops, the organization vigorously promoted the literacy campaign, and Wang Jian'an also actively cooperated and constantly improved his cultural literacy. Wang Jian'an's life has experienced many twists and turns, and he has shown versatile talents in the army.
Whether it was participating in battles, directing troops to destroy the enemy, or playing a role in political work and propaganda and education, he excelled. However, the trajectory of his life took a turn in an important collaboration with Xu Shiyou. At that time, Zhang Guotao's attempt to *** caused a shock within the Fourth Front Army, and in this turbulent period, Xu Shiyou became Wang Jian'an's important partner.
However, a liquidation operation changed everything, and the liquidation of Zhang Guotao's forces led to Xu Shiyou and others being implicated. Xu Shiyou decided to leave to seek guerrilla warfare, and initially received Wang Jian'an's support, but later Wang Jian'an changed his mind and reported the incident to ** instead. Although this move saved Xu Shiyou and others, it also seriously affected Wang Jian'an's reputation within the Four Fronts, causing many people to be dissatisfied with him.
However, fate made them meet again during the Anti-Japanese War, this time in the Shandong region. They once again showed their talents and became two outstanding generals in the Shandong base area. In the end, under the mediation of ***, Wang Jian'an and Xu Shiyou reconciled and participated in the Battle of Jinan together. The two old comrades-in-arms have not been able to fight side by side again for many years, and this collaboration shows their extraordinary ability.
They soon led the army to capture Jinan and captured the famous general Wang Yaowu, a battle that made many years of grievances and made these two comrades-in-arms the heroes of the founding of the country. After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Wang Jian'an participated in the Korean War and continued to show his talent on the battlefield. However, the long-term campaign made Wang Jian'an's physical condition very poor. Soon after the war, his condition deteriorated, which also affected his promotion.
Despite this, in recognition of his contributions, he was awarded the rank of general in 1956. Since then, Wang Jian'an has been living a low-key life, he doesn't socialize much on weekdays, and lives a very simple life. In July 1980, Wang Jian'an died of illness. He had already left a will before his death, hoping that he would not hold a memorial service after his death and would not place his ashes in Babaoshan.
* Respecting Wang Jian'an's last wishes and not holding a memorial service for him, this also made the news of his death unknown, and many old comrades-in-arms only learned the news afterwards. Although this arrangement made Wang Jian'an's future seem cold, this was his last wish. Throughout his life, he adhered to principles, and he always put his business first in his dealings with himself and others.
During the Liberation War, Wang Jian'an was seriously injured in the battle, and the people around him persuaded him to go first, but Wang Jian'an would rather die. For the sake of the war, he insisted on commanding the battle from his hospital bed, regardless of his personal life. This is Wang Jian'an, a great revolutionary who put the interests of the country above personal gain and loss all his life.
