After four years of open source, Euler has become China's No. 1 server operating system and China's first basic software to achieve the No. 1 market share, which is an important milestone in the development of China's basic software industry and has created a software foundation for Digital China.

On December 15, the Operating Systems Conference 2023 was held in Beijing, co-sponsored by the Open Atom Open Source Conference, China Electronics Standardization Institute, National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center, and China Software Industry Association.

At the meeting, Euler announced that the cumulative installed base exceeded 6.1 million sets, and according to IDC**, the market share of OpenEuler's server operating system in China will reach 36 in 20238%。Euler ranks first in China's market share and has become the preferred operating system for enterprise digital transformation.

Sun Wenlong, chairman of the Open Atom Open Source Association, said in his speech at the conference that making full use of open source, participating in open source, supporting open source, and giving back to open source is an effective way to achieve operating system technology innovation and industrial prosperity.

Since the open-source community, it has attracted more than 1,300 leading enterprises, research institutions, and universities to join, gathered more than 16,800 open source contributors, and established more than 100 special interest groups (SIGs), making the OpenEuler open source community the most dynamic and innovative open source community in China.

Euler is the first to support NVDIA and Ascend operating systems in the evolution to AI

The operating system is an important part of the basic research in the field of software, and it occupies a core position in the basic software.

In the past year, artificial intelligence technology, represented by large models and large computing power, has gradually reshaped thousands of industries. In the intelligent era, operating systems need to evolve towards AI. AI is used in the entire process of OS development, deployment, and O&M to make the OS more intelligent. At the same time, the operating system also needs to adapt to the development requirements of AI and meet the heterogeneous integration of general computing power and AI computing power. Euler is an open-source operating system for the enterprise server market, which currently supports all mainstream general computing architectures such as ARM, x86, and RISC-V, and is also the first to support mainstream AI processors such as NVDIA and Ascend in the intelligent era.

On the one hand, EulerCopilot is trained based on a large number of Euler operating system data based on the basic ChatGPT model and AI, which initially realizes functions such as assisted generation, intelligent problem analysis, and system assisted operation and maintenance, making Euler more intelligent. On the other hand, Euler uses unified management and scheduling of heterogeneous resources, coordinates memory and computing power, realizes the deep integration of CPU and NPU, fully excavates idle resources, improves effective utilization, and then improves the efficiency of AI training and inference performance.

22 projects signed donation intentions OpenEuler's leading business practice projects were announced

In December 2022, the OpenEuler Open Source Association announced that OpenEuler was upgraded to a project group, which can operate independently in terms of governance charter, community operation, fund raising, etc., accept open source projects to join, and use resources such as infrastructure, operation, and marketing of the OpenEuler project group. In the first half of 2023, 9 projects have completed the signing of donation intentions, and 13 new projects have been signed at the conference, most of which are solution-based, full-scenario, and full-development process projects, which will inject new innovation into OpenEuler from the dimensions of cloud native, AI, intelligence, and monitoring.

Euler is used on a wide range of scales, with an average of 10 innovative projects per month. The OpenAtom OpenEuler community, in conjunction with the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center, and industry experts, completed multiple rounds of selection of publicly solicited business practice achievements in five dimensions: technological innovation, demonstration and promotion value, application scale, service operation and maintenance capabilities, and community contribution, and finally selected 15 OpenEuler leading business practice projects in 2023.

The prosperity of Euler is inseparable from the continuous contribution of community members, and the OpenAtom OpenEuler community has joined forces with China Electronics Standardization Institute and a number of industry experts to comply with the group standard T CESA 12705-2023, 15 advanced units with outstanding contributions will be selected from the dimensions of technology, governance, ecological construction and other contribution dimensions.

Support 98% of the world's mainstream open source software and contribute Chinese solutions to the world's open source

In his keynote speech, Ni Guangnan, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, said that the experience of "Euler" fully proves that as long as Chinese developers work together, they have the ability to create a world-class open source community. Euler has in-depth cooperation with international mainstream associations and has supported 98% of the world's mainstream open source software. As a CI operating system in dozens of open source communities such as cloud native, big data, storage, database, and HPC, Euler has implemented upstream native support and is ready to use out of the box. At the same time, Euler is deeply involved in the formulation and promotion of global mainstream software security standards and specifications such as OpenChain and OpenSSF, and is the first to pass the OpenChain ISO 5230 open source software protocol certification, and the community infrastructure has reached the OpenSSF SLSA L3 standard. In addition, Euler also cooperates with global mainstream communities and organizations to meet the localization requirements of various regions around the world and standardize the international governance of the Euler open source community. In July last year, Open Atom** officially launched the "Open Atom School Source Line" to cultivate open source talents for colleges and universities across the country by funding open source clubs, promoting open source courses, and setting up open source grants.
