Ruan, a native of Chen Liuwei (now Weishi County, Henan), was a famous literary scholar of Wei during the Three Kingdoms period. At the age of fourteen or fifteen, Ruan Ji was determined to learn poetry and books well and make contributions. Once, he climbed Guangwu Mountain (now northeast of Xingyang, Henan),* the ancient battlefield of the Chu-Han War, and said with a sigh: "There are no heroes at the time, so the Zhuzi (villain) becomes famous!."He felt that villains like Liu Bang had become heroes, which was really sad. This shows his ambition.

After Ruan Ji**, he saw that the Cao group and the Sima group had a fierce struggle, and many celebrities were killed. Ruan Ji doesn't even guarantee his own safety, so can he talk about his ambitions? So he began to live a wayward life. Ruan Ji sometimes studied behind closed doors, did not leave the house for several months, sometimes hid in the mountains and rivers, and did not come back for several days. Drinking alone, often playing the piano when happy or sad, forgetting all sorrows, and reveling in the realm of his own creation. At that time, people could not understand Ruan, only his clan brother admired him very much, and often praised him in front of people, and people gradually thought that he would be extraordinary. Ruan's fame reached the ears of the lieutenant Jiang Ji, and Jiang Ji summoned him to be an official. Ruan Ji wrote a letter to Jiang Ji, first praising Jiang Ji, and then belittling himself, saying that a person like himself was not worthy of being Jiang Ji's subordinate. Jiang Ji began to worry that Ruan Ji would not come, and he was very happy after reading the letter, so he sent someone to pick up Ruan Ji, who knew that Ruan Ji had already run away. Jiang Ji was furious. The villagers hurriedly persuaded Ruan Ji not to hit the stone with the egg, and Ruan Ji reluctantly went to be an official, and later said that he was sick and quit. During the reign of Sima Yi's father and son, Ruan Ji served as an official who was engaged in Zhonglang and scattered cavalry. On the surface, he had a good relationship with the Sima group, but in fact he was very dissatisfied with their ** rule, but it was not easy to oppose it openly, so he had to say nothing and never talk about others. Sima Zhao talked to him many times, tested his attitude, and finally had to sigh and say: The most cautious person in the world is Ruan Sizong.

Every time I talk to him, he talks about it mysteriously and mysteriously, boundless, never talks about current affairs or evaluates people, which is really cautious to the extreme!Ruan Ji had a daughter, and Sima Zhao wanted to marry her as a daughter-in-law, so he sent someone to say goodbye. Ruan Ji was drunk and couldn't say anything for sixty days in a row, so Sima Zhao had to give up his plan. Zhong Hui asked Ruan Ji several times about his views on current affairs, trying to find out the fault to cure Ruan Ji's sins, but he failed because of Ruan Ji's drunkenness. Emperor Wen Sima Zhao once asked Ruan Ji where he wanted to be an official, and Ruan Ji replied: Dongping. So, Sima Zhao worshipped him as Dongping Xiang. Ruan Ji rode a donkey to Dongping, and as soon as he took office, he destroyed many walls of the official palace, so that the inside and outside could look at each other, and greatly simplified the decree, which made the people of Dongping full of praise in more than ten days. After Ruan Ji returned from Dongping, he became a Zhonglang. There were reports of a son who had killed his mother. Ruan Ji immediately said: Hey!It's reasonable to kill your father, how can you kill your mother? In the feudal era, killing one's father was a major crime to commit the father-based moral order, and Ruan Ji actually said "it's okay", and everyone present was shocked. Sima Zhao said: Killing your father is a very evil thing, how do you think it's okay?Ruan Ji said: Birds and beasts know their mothers but do not know their fathers, and killing their fathers is similar to that of birds and beasts. Killing a mother is worse than a beast. Everyone was convinced.

In 261 AD, Sima Zhao used the name of Wei to proclaim himself the "Duke of Jin", but he pretended to be humble. So, everyone persuaded one after another. They asked Ruan to write a "persuasion form". Ruan Ji was drunk and forgot to write, and when everyone wanted to persuade him to enter and send someone to pick it up, Ruan Ji was still lying on the case and sleeping drunk. Someone hurriedly woke him up, and this time, he had no choice but to write. Although this incident reflects Nguyen's weakness, it is also the reason why he became a survivor among the celebrities. Nguyen Ji was very filial to his mother. One day, while Nguyen was playing Go, someone came to tell him that his mother had died. The other person playing chess immediately wanted to clean up the chessboard, but Ruan refused to let him go, and he was determined to decide the winner. After that, he drank two buckets, screamed, and vomited several liters of blood. When his mother was buried, he drank two more buckets of wine, and was speechless, when he suddenly howled and vomited several liters of blood. Ruan Ji was skinny and dying. Some people came to mourn. When Ji Xi came to mourn, Ruan Ji thought he was a man of etiquette, so he looked at him with white eyes, and Ji Xi left very unhappy. When Ji Xi's younger brother Ji Kang heard about it, he came to visit with fine wine and guqin, and Ruan Ji was very happy, so he treated him with blue eyes (ordinary eyes). These behaviors were deeply hated by the people of etiquette, but because he did not directly oppose Sima Zhao's words and deeds, he was not subjected to **. It is said in the history books that Ruan Ji often rode alone in a carriage at will, without asking where to go, and when he reached the end of the road, he cried bitterly.

In the winter of 263 AD, Nguyen died at the age of 54. Ruan Ji expressed his inner sorrow and love and hatred in a subtle and tortuous way in poetry, which is the famous 82 five-character "Yonghuai Poems". Ruan Ji was drunk on the surface, but sober inside. He opposes religion, despises Lelu, is detached from things, leisurely, and is a writer with great personality and characteristics.
