Nvidia is trying to diversify its ** chain and is increasing its investment in Vietnam.
On December 11, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said during his first visit to Vietnam that the company regards Vietnam as its home and confirmed plans to build a base in Vietnam.
Nvidia sees Vietnam as an important market and wants to establish a base in Vietnam to develop the country's semiconductor industry, according to Vietnam** citing Huang.
Huang said at an event in Hanoi, Vietnam's capital
"Vietnam is already our partner because we have millions of customers here. NVIDIA and Vietnam will continue to deepen their cooperation, and NVIDIA hopes to expand cooperation with Vietnamese companies such as Viettel, FPT, VINGROUP, VNG, etc., and will support human training and infrastructure construction in Vietnam. ”At the event, Vietnam's Minister of Investment Nguyen Chi Dung said that Vietnam has been preparing corresponding mechanisms and incentives to attract investment projects in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence industries.
After Huang proposed a base in Vietnam, Nguyen also asked Nvidia to consider setting up a research and development facility in Vietnam.
Previously, a document released by the White House in September this year showed that Nvidia had invested 2US$500 million and has partnered with leading technology companies in Vietnam to deploy AI in the cloud services, automotive and healthcare industries.
Vietnam wasn't originally known for chip manufacturing, but when discussing the country in the semiconductor space, people think of Intel because it has a huge testing and assembly plant near Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The plant plays a vital role in Intel's global chain, but last month it was reported that Intel had canceled plans to make additional investments in the plant.
