UN Special Envoy: All parties to the conflict in Yemen commit to a ceasefire
Seeing this news headline, I am afraid that many people are speculating whether the repeated pressure of the United States has finally brought the curtain call to an end to the drama on the Red SeaHowever, after carefully reading the content, this expectation immediately came to naught. It turned out that the so-called ceasefire promise was nothing more than a "false alarm".
After some negotiations, the Saudi-backed Yemen** and Iranian-backed Houthis claimed to have agreed to take steps to achieve a ceasefire, the report said. In a related statement, the Office of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen expressed appreciation for the key role of Saudi Arabia and Oman in this process.
Apparently, before that, after the meeting between Saudi Arabia and Iran in Beijing, some kind of "fierce medicine" was cast, which gave the Americans a headache. Back in September 2014, the Houthis seized Yemen's capital and occupied the southern region, triggering the history of Saudi Arabia's multinational coalition in March 2015 to strike at the Houthis. However, despite the mediation of the United Nations, the contradictions between Yemen** and the Houthis have not been fundamentally resolved.
It is worth mentioning that through China's efforts, Saudi Arabia and Iran, the two great enemies of the century, have successfully shaken hands and made peace, bringing about earth-shaking changes in the situation in the Middle East. Reuters' assessment of the incident was that China's mediation of the Saudi-Iranian rapprochement had given Yemen's peace initiative a huge impetus. This event is a major milestone in the history of mankind.
There is a good saying, "If you go outside, you must first settle inside". Now that Saudi Arabia and Iran have agreed to make a ceasefire within Yemen possible, it is undoubtedly bad news for the United States and Israel. Because the Houthis, under the constraints of the Yemeni army, will be able to deal more comprehensively with the "grass platform team" set up by the United States.
To put it bluntly, while Yemen's internal ceasefire can be seen as a self-reliant effort in the Middle East to jointly confront external enemies, China's efforts have clearly played a key role. In the current wave of global anti-hegemony, although many conflicts and incidents are far away from China, this does not mean that the outside world can ignore China's strength.
China's mediation of the Middle East issue, the enhancement of exchanges with Russia, and the chanting of the "Global South" to strengthen cooperation undoubtedly show that China has become a leader in resisting hegemonism. Although breaking the "international rules" formulated by the United States and the West is not a goal that can be achieved in a short period of time, in this long process, all countries in the world need China, a major power that can compete with the United States, to act as the pillar of the anti-hegemonic camp.
Although many countries have been cowering and often wavering from the strength of the United States over the years, there is an opportunity for them to make radical changes, and Saudi Arabia is currently the best example of this. At a deeper level, the United States is no longer able to stand on the commanding heights of its strength and be proud of China.
In general, the ceasefire brokered by countries in the Middle East to achieve a ceasefire in Yemen is likely to plunge the United States into a sea of resistance from the people of the Middle East. It is foreseeable that in the coming period, China's efforts and contributions to resist US hegemony will surely bear fruit one by one. Let's wait and see if China's efforts can attract more attention and recognition on the global political stage.
