Shangguan Ji was born in Shangqi (now Tianshui, Gansu) in Longxi of the Western Han Dynasty, and was the grandfather of Empress Shangguan of Emperor Zhao of the Han Dynasty. Shangguan Ji was known for his talent when he was young, and successively served as a servant, a servant, and a general of Zuo. He turned against Huo Guang because of various incidents, and later united with Sang Hongyang and others to plot ** Huo Guang, but because the matter was exposed, he was finally killed and his family was destroyed.
Biography of the characterReceived the letter of the MarquisShangguan Ji is a native of Shangbang, Longxi. When he was young, he was a doorman of Yulin period, followed Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty to Ganquan Palace, caught up with the strong wind, and the car could not move forward, so he took off the car cover and let Shangguan Ji hold it. Shangguan Ji held the car cover, although the wind was very strong, he was not left behind by the car;Soon it rained, and he used the car cover to protect Emperor Wu from the rain. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty admired his courage very much, so he promoted him to make a Weiyang stable order. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was once not very well, and when he got well, he went to see the horses, and found that most of the horses were thin, and Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was furious and said, "Do you think I will never see these horses again!".To punish him, Shangguan kowtowed and said: "I heard that the emperor is unwell, so I worry about you day and night, and I can still take care of the horse." Before he could finish speaking, tears began to fall. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty thought that he was very loyal to him, so he trusted him very much, made him a servant, and gradually promoted to a servant. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was seriously ill, and Huo Guang was appointed as the general, and the servant Shangguan Ji was the general of Zuo, and they all accepted the edict to assist the young master. Because of the meritorious service of the previous reckless and rebellious mang, he was named the Marquis of Anyang.
Befriended Huo GuangAt the beginning, Shangguan Ji's son Shangguan An married Huo Guang's daughter as his wife, and the two families became in-laws and had a close relationship. Emperor Zhao of the Han Dynasty was only eight years old when he ascended the throne, and his sister Princess Gai lived in the palace to raise Emperor Zhao. The princess and the doorman and the outsider have an affair. When Emperor Zhao and the general Huo Guang heard about this, they were unwilling to cut off the princess's personal relationship, so they issued an edict ordering Ding outsiders to serve the princess. The princess selected a woman from the Zhou Yang clan and sent her to the palace and promised her to Emperor Zhao of the Han Dynasty. It happened that Shangguan An also had a daughter, that is, Huo Guang's granddaughter, so Shangguan An persuaded Huo Guang to send this granddaughter to the palace. Huo Guang thought that the child was still young, so he didn't agree. Shangguan An usually has a very good relationship with Ding Wairen, so he went to persuade Ding Wairen: "I heard that the eldest prince mainly selects women to enter the palace, my daughter has a good appearance, if you can take advantage of the opportunity of the eldest princess to choose a woman to enter the palace and become a queen, our father and son are officials in the imperial court, and there is a pepper room to rely on, it is all up to you to complete, the old practice of the Han family is to let the marquis marry the princess as a wife, are you still worried that you can't seal the marquis?."Ding Wairen was very happy and told the princess about this, and the princess thought it was very reasonable, so she issued an edict to let Shangguan An's daughter enter the palace to be Jieyu, and Shangguan An was named the captain of the cavalry. After more than a month, Shangguan was canonized as the queen, and she was only six years old.
Rebellion and exterminationBecause Shangguan An was the queen's father, he was named the Marquis of Sangle, with 1,500 households, and was promoted to the general of the chariot cavalry, becoming more and more arrogant and lascivious. He received his reward in the temple and said to his guests, "How happy it is to drink with my son-in-law!""Show off the garments you have obtained, and send them home, intending to burn them as offerings to the gods. When Shangguan An was drunk, he walked naked in the inner house and fornicated with his stepmother and his father's concubines. And when his son was sick and died, he raised his face and cursed the heavens. He repeatedly asked Huo Guang to give Ding Wairen the title of marquis, and Shangguan Ji also wanted to add officials to Ding Wairen, but Huo Guang acted impartially and did not agree. Chongguo, who was favored by Shangguan's wife's father, was a eunuch who ran to the palace without authorization, was arrested and imprisoned, and should be punished with death according to the law. When winter was about to pass, the princess paid twenty horses for the kingdom to atone for his sins, thus sparing him from the death penalty. Therefore, Shangguan Ji and Shangguan An's father and son deeply resented Huo Guang and were grateful for the princess's kindness. They learned that Liu Dan, the elder brother of Emperor Zhao of Han, was also resentful because he was not made emperor, and Shangguan Ji and Shangguan An recorded Huo Guang's mistakes and told King Yan, asking him to write to Emperor Zhao of Han to denounce Huo Guang and ask for the position of marquis on behalf of Ding Wairen. King Yan was overjoyed, so he wrote a book and claimed: "Zilu's sister died, and he didn't take off his mourning clothes after a year, and Confucius criticized him." Zilu said, 'I am unfortunate that I have no brothers, so I can't bear to take off the mourning clothes I wore for my sister.' Therefore, it is said, 'By looking at a person's faults, you can know whether he is benevolent or not.'" Now Your Majesty and I only have one sister, the eldest princess, and Your Majesty Longen let the Ding outsiders serve the princess, and the Ding outsiders should be rewarded with the title of knight. After the performance, Emperor Zhao asked Huo Guang's opinion, and Huo Guang insisted on disagreeing. When King Yan wrote again to accuse Huo Guang of guilt, Emperor Zhao became even more suspicious, and became closer to Huo Guang and alienated Shangguan Ji and Shangguan An. Shangguan's father and son gradually became angry, so they secretly gathered their henchmen to harm Huo Guang, tricked King Yan to come to Beijing to kill Huo Guang, and then abolished Emperor Zhao and established Shangguan Ji as emperor. Someone said, "What can the queen do?"Shangguan An said: "The hound chasing the elk, can you still take care of the little rabbit?"Besides, relying on the queen to get the throne, once the emperor changes his mind, it is impossible to be a commoner, no matter what dynasty it is. After the matter was revealed, King Yan and Princess Gai committed suicide. This incident is recorded in "The Biography of Huo Guang". Shangguan Ji and Shangguan An's father and son were exterminated, the queen was young and did not participate in this rebellion, and she was Huo Guang's granddaughter, so she was not abolished.
