As the saying goes, once you take drugs, you will quit drugs for ten years, and you will want to use drugs for life. While it's not true that drugs can't be quit, the cost of quitting is too great for every person and family.

Liu, 36 years old this year, has experienced a total of 15 years from drug addiction, AIDS, to successful drug rehabilitation. With the help of the police of the No. 4 Compulsory Isolation Drug Rehabilitation Center in Guangdong Province, the local Narcotics Control Office and his family, Liu has not relapsed for nearly four years, successfully got rid of drug addiction and started a new life.

"Little Luckily" fisherman family

He was heavily indebted because of his addiction to drugs

Liu was born in a family of fishermen and has been fishing for generations. Although the life of cultivating the sea is very hard, the family's income is not bad, and life is simple and happy. However, when he went out fishing with his fellow villagers, he was lured by a "drug friend" and took the first puff of poison, and since then he has formed a bad relationship with drugs.

After returning home, Liu began to take the initiative to contact this so-called friend, and his life changed dramatically. At the age of his establishment, he should have started a family, but he gradually lost his sense of responsibility to his family due to drug addiction. Not only did he use his family's savings to buy drugs, but he also incurred a lot of debt. In the face of the hard persuasion of his parents, relatives and friends, he has always ignored and acted indifferent. At this time, Liu, in addition to taking drugs every day, was thinking about how to get drug money, and he fell into the devil of drugs and couldn't extricate himself.

With the deepening of drug addiction, Liu switched from hot sucking to injection drug use. Because of sharing needles and smoking***, he soon contracted AIDS. "When I was sanity, I also thought about not smoking anymore. Because drug abuse not only depleted money, but also caused me to contract AIDS. But as soon as I became addicted, I couldn't control myself. Liu recalled.

From resistance to help

He transcended inferiority and established a belief in drug rehabilitation

Because of drug abuse, Liu was once out of the drug rehabilitation center. In 2018, Liu was found by the public security organs for drug use and was sent to the Fourth Compulsory Isolation Drug Rehabilitation Center in Guangdong Province to start his fifth compulsory isolation drug rehabilitation.

HIV-infected and drug addicts, these two identities made Liu suffer ridicule and discrimination in society. Therefore, Liu, who had just entered the drug rehabilitation center, was fragile and inferior, silent, and radical in thought, believing that there was a "talisman" of AIDS, and repeatedly made many unreasonable demands to the center, and even took extreme measures such as hunger strikes and sit-ins in order to achieve illegal goals, openly provoking the police in the center, and disobeying discipline.

Through in-depth conversation and communication with Liu, the correctional police learned that the deep reason why he became a "thorn" was precisely that he had no expectations for his future, and even felt hopeless about life. In response to Liu's situation, the brigade specially formulated an education and correction plan, and decided to help Liu establish confidence in drug rehabilitation through a series of methods such as "help and education" with precept, education on laws and regulations, popularization of AIDS knowledge, and implementation of antiviral **.

Liu gradually discovered that he was surrounded by drug addicts who were infected with AIDS like him, and he was not alone. The police here not only do not discriminate, but also often ask for warmth and care for them. Through a period of antiviral**, Liu's physical condition gradually improved.

A pass with grandma's pro-***

Awaken his heart of rebirth

Adhering to the concept of "treating AIDS with love and calling love with love", the Provincial Fourth Rehabilitation Center insists on emotionally treating AIDS drug addicts with heart, awakening their yearning for a new life, and stimulating the internal drive of treatment. In a daily heart-to-heart conversation, the police learned that Liu was taken care of by his grandmother since he was a child and had a deep affection for his grandmother. Because of compulsory isolation for drug rehabilitation, he failed to celebrate his grandmother's birthday a few years ago. Now his grandmother's birthday is approaching again, but he can't celebrate his grandmother's birthday due to compulsory isolation and drug rehabilitation, and his mood is very low.

After analyzing and judging, the police of the brigade unanimously believed that this was an opportunity to carry out family help and education for Liu, and decided to try to awaken the determination of drug addict Liu through the encouragement of his grandmother. Subsequently, through careful arrangements and contacts, the police went to Liu's home with a remote ** call device and arranged a remote ** meeting on the day of his grandmother's birthday.

After connecting, Liu's grandmother and her family sat around in the picture, cheering him for drug rehabilitation: "Sun, you must be obedient when you come out, don't take drugs anymore, grandma believes that you will be able to successfully quit drugs." Grandma's call made Liu cry like rain in an instant.

During a simple ** meeting, Liu felt the intentions and care of the police, and began to be willing to face up to the harm of drug abuse and actively cooperate with treatment. Under the education and guidance of the drug rehabilitation police, he rediscovered the purpose and meaning of life, and successfully quit drug addiction through hard work and perseverance.

After being released from the center, Liu returned to his hometown to work. With the help and support of the local drug control office and his family, Liu, who gradually improved his health, picked up the fisherman's business again, and his life gradually got on the right track, and his income was relatively considerable, and he gradually paid off his previous debts.

Drugs used to ruin everything for me. If it weren't for the police and social workers to pull me out of the devil's hole of drug abuse, I would not have been able to integrate into society, return to my family, and not have the life I have now. When the police went to Liu's home for a return visit, Liu looked back on his more than ten years of youth that was consumed by drugs, and he said with great emotion.
