Pakistan and India have been at odds for a long time over the Kashmir issue, and the United States and other Western countries used the Kashmir issue to create disputes between India and Pakistan, and the Soviet Union at that time also favored India on this issue. This is the purpose of the British deliberately leaving this problem, the British are "old colonialists" and are good at taking advantage of this set, and the Americans are happy to see India and Pakistan at odds.
