Newcastle United are considering bringing in Tottenham Hotspur s Lloris in January

Newcastle United are considering reaching out to Tottenham Hotspur's Lloris in January as they weigh up their remaining goalkeeper options, according to Promotion.com. With a shoulder injury sustained in last weekend's 1-0 win over Manchester United, Newcastle United will be without first-choice goalkeeper Nick Pope for about four months.

Pope underwent surgery after dislocating his shoulder against the Red Devils, forcing Martin Dubravka to come off the bench in Thursday's 3-0 defeat to relegation zone Everton.

The Slovak was once again entrusted with the task when Newcastle travelled to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, while Loris Karius and Mark Gillespie were also under the guidance of Eddie Howe.

Although Dubravka proved his worth ahead of Pope's arrival, the latter's injury inevitably sparked transfer rumours ahead of the opening of the transfer window in January.

Free agent David De Gea, who has been linked to a move at St James' Park, has not been favoured by any club since his contract expired this summer.

Howe has denied that talks have been held with Lloris' entourage, but according to the Mirror, Newcastle United have also set their sights on the possibility of bringing Lloris in place.
