Intelligence is the second half of new energy vehicles, and it is also a new track for many car companies to focus on layout. In March 2022, the State Administration for Market Regulation of China issued the "Classification of Automobile Driving Automation", which was officially implemented. Different from the classification of SAE, the national standard classification divides automobile driving automation into levels 0-5, corresponding to emergency assistance, partial driving assistance, combined driving assistance, conditional autonomous driving, highly automated driving and fully autonomous driving. At present, with the development of intelligent automobiles, the industry is in the transition stage from combined driving assistance to conditional automatic driving.
The strength of BYD, a new energy leader, in the core three electrics is undoubted. However, in consumer perception: compared with the new power models, BYD feels decent in terms of intelligent driving. Recently, the car emperor conducted the 2023 winter test activity in Mohe, one of which was the "night snow ACC battle", BYD's two models (N7 and Yangwang U8) have successfully passed three levels and become the biggest winner.
Compared with common cruise control, ACC adaptive cruise control can automatically adjust the vehicle without the driver's intervention. The night snow ACC test refers to placing a static fake car in the middle of the road, and turning on the adaptive cruise system and automatic emergency braking function to see if the vehicle can complete the braking. At the same time, since the test is carried out in the snow, the braking distance will be greatly extended;Nighttime light conditions and snow can interfere with vehicle camera recognition. A variety of factors are superimposed, and the test is very difficult, and it is a comprehensive consideration of the vehicle's intelligent assisted driving ability.
In the first test, only 17 of the 51 vehicles participating in the test passed the test, and the pass rate was only one-third. The pass rate of independent models is relatively high, and many joint venture models have returned home.
In the second level of the test, the difficulty was escalated, and the backlight factor was added. Of the remaining 17 vehicles, only 8 passed, a passing rate of less than half.
The third level of the ultimate challenge, the difficulty is upgraded again, and it is "Night Backlight Snow ACC Static Fake Car Recognition Test". The extremely harsh environment was simulated, the road conditions were almost invisible to the naked eye, and the test speed was reduced to 40km h, and finally the four vehicles of Yangwang U8, Denza N7, NIO ET7 and AVATR 11 passed the devil test. The two models of the BYD series, the Denza N7 and Yangwang U8, played steadily and persevered to the end.
Only if you work hard enough can you look effortless. BYD currently has 11 major R&D institutions and more than 90,000 R&D engineers. Among them, the team focusing on intelligent research and development has more than 2,000 people, which is currently the largest number of domestic car companies in this field.
A peek at the leopard in the tube, from this winter counterattack, it can be seen that BYD has made great progress in intelligence. Over time, I believe that BYD intelligence will bring us more surprises.
