In 1929, a farmer in Yandaocheng stumbled upon a piece of jade while digging a ditch, which led to the discovery of Sanxingdui. Subsequently, a large number of cultural relics were excavated, which caused a huge sensation among scholars at home and abroad. Sanxingdui fills an important gap in many fields such as Chinese archaeology, aesthetics, and history. In the past 100 years, Sanxingdui has unearthed thousands of cultural relics. One of the pieces that has attracted widespread attention is a peculiar shape of the Dingzun figure. This mysterious figure wears a mask, has vertical eyes, triangular horns on its head, and slender hands. This image reminds many people of the legendary Jiuli tribe chieftain - Chiyou.
This raises doubts about whether the Sanxingdui civilization is the legendary Chiyou tribal civilization. The detection of scientific and technological means shows that the Sanxingdui civilization can be traced back to the Yanhuang period. Among the excavated artifacts are a large number of bronze, jade and ivory artifacts, among which the carving technology of jade is comparable to today, far ahead of the Central Plains. In addition, Sanxingdui is consistent with the records of the "Classic of Mountains and Seas" in ancient times, indicating that the Sanxingdui civilization was not left by aliens or Westerners, but that China, as a country with a complete history, could not have a strong civilization without records.
Therefore, it can be inferred that in the Yanhuang period, the only tribes that could have such a powerful casting process and influence may be the Yandi tribe, the Yellow Emperor tribe and the Chiyou tribe. However, from the perspective of the development process of Chinese civilization, most of the cultural relics unearthed in Sanxingdui are strange and incompatible with Chinese civilization, which further shows that Sanxingdui civilization is likely to be the former Chiyou tribal civilization. In addition, from the geographical point of view, Sanxingdui is located in the distant land of Shu, which is today's Sichuan. The unearthed ghost masks and golden silk tree birds look like West Asian civilizations, but they are actually the same as the face-changing art of Sichuan.
According to ancient records, the Chiyou tribe was good at driving iron-eating beasts to fight, and these iron beasts are known as giant pandas today. Therefore, judging from the habitat of the giant panda, the legendary Chiyou tribe is located in today's Sichuan. The appearance of writing was after the creation of characters by Cangjie, so it is understandable that there is no mention of the existence of Chiyoubu in ancient texts. As the loser of the battle for the deer, Chiyou will naturally be erased by the descendants of the Yan Emperor and the Yellow Emperor. The lack of records of the Chiyou Department in ancient books is also due to this reason. During the archaeological excavations, people were amazed not only by the exquisite carving craftsmanship of Sanxingdui, but also by the modern drainage system of the city.
All these show the extremely advanced level of civilization of the Chiyou Department at that time. According to Guan Zhong, "In the past, the Yellow Emperor had six phases, and the ghosts and gods of heaven and earth were there, and Chi You knew the way of heaven, so it was at that time." This sentence means that after the Yellow Emperor defeated Chiyou, he was amazed by the advanced technology, culture and management system of Chiyoubu, which also directly shows that Chiyou was a more civilized and advanced country at that time. Looking back at the description of the battle of the deer in the "Classic of Mountains and Seas", the Yellow Emperor drove Ying Long to fight, Chi You sent Feng Boyu Division, and then the Yellow Emperor also invited the Heavenly Maiden from the sky to help in the battle, these plots are simply more science fiction than modern civilization.
Some people even think that the steel-headed, iron-faced, sand and fog-spitting Chiyou may be an ancient robot, and the Celestial Maiden represents some kind of high-tech **, these ideas are pure nonsense. The greatest value of the cultural relics unearthed in Sanxingdui is to concretize the mythological depictions in the "Classic of Mountains and Seas" and prove the authenticity of the battles of the Yellow Emperor, Chiyou and Zhuolu, rather than pure fictional myths. However, the mystery of Sanxingdui also brings more questions, which may need to be explained by future generations.
