Since Mr. Fei Xiaotong published his sociological masterpiece "Jiangcun Economy" 87 years ago, scholars at home and abroad who study rural areas have known that there is a "Jiangcun" in his hometown of Wujiang, Suzhou, and there is a continuous stream of visits, observations, investigations, comparisons, or long-distance attention. To this day, there are still all kinds of Chinese, foreigners, scholars, professors, students, writers, and tourists, who want to come to study, collect style, and visit, and always ask curiously: What has become of that Jiangcun?What the hell is Jiangcun in?
Now, 32 famous artists, one after another, are conducting an unusual field aesthetic and field creation in Wujiang Village, where the international sociological community has tirelessly conducted fieldwork. When they left, Jiangcun was transformed into 65 large-scale paintings, "Painting about Jiangcun", which unfolded into a historical scroll depicting the style of Jiangcun in all aspects.
For nearly a hundred years, the expression of Jiangcun has been vast. After Fei Xiaotong laid the foundation of one article and one article, there were countless works in different forms such as sociology, literature, art, and journalism, showing different faces and styles of Jiangcun, perhaps all kinds of forms have already passed, but it is the first time to launch an aesthetic project to present the rich and colorful beauty of Jiangcun on a large scale and in a large production. This is perhaps a rare "country movement" in the history of art. From the Song Dynasty's "Jiangcun Picture", Van Gogh's rural paintings, to contemporary China's "Ten Thousand Mountains Are Red", etc., it shows that outstanding artists in ancient and modern times, both at home and abroad, have always preferred rural themes, and there are countless works that have been handed down to the world. This time, the artists' Jiangcun theme creation is not simply art going to the countryside, nor is it a general representation of the countryside, but art empowers rural revitalization.
