More than 430,000 illegal Afghan refugees have been repatriated to Afghanistan

According to Pakistan's newspaper The Nation, on December 20, illegal aliens, including Afghans, continue to be repatriated in a dignified and safe manner. On Monday (18th), 1,586 illegal Afghans returned to their countries, bringing the total number of returned migrants to 438,376.

On 3 October, a meeting of the Supreme Council for the National Plan of Action, chaired by caretaker Prime Minister Kakar, asked all foreigners residing in Pakistan illegally to leave voluntarily by 31 October or face deportation. Pakistan** is facilitating the repatriation process of illegal Afghans at the Tokham and Chaman border crossings.

Earlier, caretaker Home Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti (instructed) that no "rough treatment" (of repatriated persons) should be used in the process of repatriation of illegal immigrants in Pakistan. Speaking in the Senate, the interior minister said: "Prime Minister Kakar has given very clear instructions that illegal immigrants should not be treated harshly during the repatriation process. "The caretaker interior minister, Bugeti, also assured the Senate that any mismanagement on the border will be inspected and welcomes recommendations from political leaders. "Not a single Afghan refugee with legal documents has been touched," he added.
