On December 29, the "2024 Global High School Athletic Alliance (UHSAA) Sports Scholarship Program" was officially launched, which aims to select outstanding domestic athletes aged 14-18 and provide them with opportunities to study in the United States. TMG Sports and HSM International Sports will participate in the program as supporters. In addition to the original six sports of basketball, rugby, tennis, volleyball, baseball, and golf, this year also expanded a number of popular sports such as football, fencing, and swimming.
At present, more than 100 American high schools have established in-depth cooperative relations with UHSAA. In the past two years, UHSAA has successfully sent more than 50 representatives of different sports to American high schools, including IMG Academy, St. John Bosk High School, Lake Shack School, Windermere College, etc. Xinyue Liu, a UHSAA student in the Class of 2022 who currently attends Erie Preparatory School, averaged 14 points per game in the 2022-23 PIAA League American High School season, led the team to the first PIAA 10 District championship in team history, and was named to the PIAA All-Star team. Wang Mingyi, a UHSAA student of the class of 2023 who is currently studying at St. John's Bosque High School, plays for the school's Junior Varsity team and is the only member of the team selected for the 27th class, while Zhang Siyu of the same school plays for the Freshman team, and has won a 14-0 record on behalf of the team since the start of the tournament, won three tournaments, and was named the Most Valuable Player of the 2023BR**es Holiday Tourment.
In order to ensure the fairness and professionalism of the selection, UHSAA has invited well-known athletes and coaches in various sports to serve as consultants and coaches, and American high school coaches will also visit the selection site to jointly select and guide outstanding athletes with potential. Basketball, baseball, and football will be evaluated through centralized tryouts, while tennis, golf, volleyball, fencing, soccer, and swimming will be evaluated through individual evaluations.
In the future, UHSAA will continue to optimize the evaluation mechanism to maximize the impact of the project. It is understood that the project will be registered through the official WeChat, applicants need to be between the ages of 14 and 18, and applicants who have received systematic training and achieved corresponding results are preferred.
