The program was expanded to include 24 new countries
Apple has expanded its self-service repair program to Irish customers, allowing them to repair their own iPhones and other devices.
Self-service repair services will be available in an additional 24 European countries, including iPhone 15 and Mac products with M2 chips. These include the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, the 15-inch MacBook Air, Mac Mini, Mac Pro, and Mac Studio.
Currently, the program supports 35 products in 33 countries.
Apple is also offering Apple Diagnostics for self-service repairs, first in the U.S. and then in Europe next year. The troubleshooting system will allow users to test the functionality and performance of the equipment and determine which parts need to be repaired while performing self-service repairs.
Announced in November 2021 and up and running a few months later, the program provides people with repair manuals, Apple parts, and tools to repair their devices on their own. At the same time, the European Union is also working to make electronics easier to repair and limit the problem of e-waste.
Apple says serviceability is a big focus for the company, although its priority is to create devices that maximize their lifespan. To make the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15 more durable and easier to repair, Apple has made a lot of changes to their design, including redesigning the internal rack and using titanium in the iPhone 15 Pro.
