The battle for Zhenbao Island ended in a fierce battle between China and the Soviet Union

Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Western imperialist countries have taken a hostile attitude towards us and have done everything they can to suppress China by all means. For the sake of its own development, China has adopted a "one-sided" foreign policy, fully supporting the socialist camp led by the Soviet Union. China's performance in the Korean War impressed Stalin, and he decided to give his full support to China, believing that China would be able to counterbalance the United States. However, with the death of Stalin, the emergence of Khrushchev and the adoption of a tough attitude towards China, Sino-Soviet relations deteriorated sharply, reaching the climax of the "Zhenbao Island incident". In 1969, the Zhenbao Island Incident broke out on the Sino-Soviet border. China had long been prepared, so the Soviet attack quickly failed.

Not willing to be defeated, the Soviet Union mobilized a large number of elite troops and tanks, the most conspicuous of which was the T-62 tank, one of the most advanced tanks of its time. The squadron is relatively backward and appears powerless in the face of these tanks. In order to stop the attack of Soviet tanks, China could only resort to the most primitive, but effective method - laying mines. As a result, a T-62 tank was hit by a buried mine, the track was blown off and stopped on the ice. The Chinese side was very excited when they heard the news, and their superiors ordered that the tank must be recaptured. Naturally, the Soviets were reluctant to give up the tank, and the two sides fought fiercely over the tank. The Soviet army tried its best, but still could not remove this behemoth tank.

This guy weighs thousands of kilograms, which is not trivial. So, as night fell, they sent a task force to secretly infiltrate and take away the key parts of the tank. However, their actions were discovered by the squadron, and in the end they had to retreat in disgrace. The Soviets could not let go of it, and finally decided to adopt a strategy of destroying everything. At that time, the tank was parked on the thick ice, and they decided to bomb the ice directly, so that the tank sank to the bottom of the water, so that China could not get it. This plan was successfully implemented, and the T-62 tank sank to the bottom. However, the Chinese side did not give up and sent people to salvage. But due to the weight of the tank, as well as the cold waters, coupled with the harassment of Soviet troops, the salvage work proceeded slowly.

It was not until more than 20 days later that the T-62 tank was successfully salvaged ashore. Eventually, the tank was sent to Beijing as a trophy and is still on display in the museum.
