On the afternoon of December 22, the 2023 International Student Work Leading Group Meeting was held in Room A206 of the Liberal Arts Building. Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University attended the meeting and delivered a speech, the heads of the member units of the International Student Work Leading Group attended the meeting, and the members of the leadership team of the School of International Education attended the meeting. The meeting was chaired by Gong Xiaobin, Dean of the School of International Education.
The meeting first listened to the report of the School of International Education on the study abroad work of Jiangnan University in 2023, and made a detailed summary of the work of studying in China in China in terms of basic data, enrollment work, daily training, mechanism construction, performance evaluation, student activities, etc.
The meeting deliberated and approved the "2024 Catalogue of Majors for International Students Enrolled in China of Jiangnan University", and discussed the construction of all-English majors, the current enrollment status of some majors, and how to expand the enrollment scale. The participants also put forward suggestions based on the optimization of the management system and the role of incentives in the education and teaching of international students.
Du Guocheng fully affirmed the progress and achievements made by the university in the past year in the work of studying in China in the epidemic and recovery after the epidemic. He pointed out that studying in China is a cause to serve the national strategy and the overall diplomatic situation, and an important carrier to help the university run an international school, and it is necessary to adhere to quality first and take the path of connotative development. In the future, it is necessary to further improve the mechanism, form an effective linkage among various departments, break through the difficulties and blockages in the training of international students, tap potential internally and expand resources externally, continuously improve the quality of international student training, better serve the international education of the school and the construction of "double first-class", and strive to write the answer sheet of the times in the brand building of "studying in China".
The school held a meeting of the leading group for international students, aiming to deeply study the four important replies from the general secretary to the international students in China, implement the spirit of the speech of the general secretary at the fifth collective study of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China, vigorously promote the brand building of "study in China", tell Chinese stories well, spread Chinese experience, and make Chinese voices heard.
