On February 6, the lifting of the outer dome of the world's first onshore modular small nuclear reactor Linglong No. 1 at the Changjiang Nuclear Power Base in Hainan was completed.
At the hoisting site, as the wind speed measurement meets the standard, Hu Miao, deputy general manager of the Changjiang Project Department of CNNC 22 Hainan, the commander-in-chief of the scene, ordered the 3200-ton crane to slowly lift the outer dome weighing about 550 tons from the ground. The whole journey lasted 1 hour and 38 minutes.
The hoisting of the outer dome in place marks the completion of the main structure of the reactor building and lays the foundation for the subsequent capping of the reactor building. Chen Weimin, deputy director of the Hainan Nuclear Power Engineering Management Office, told reporters that this verified the feasibility of the overall module hoisting of the nuclear island's "steel roof + steel bar", and provided valuable experience for the subsequent development of nuclear power modularization.
It is understood that small reactors play an increasingly prominent role in the new round of nuclear energy technology change and international industrial competition due to their unique advantages in safety, deployment flexibility and multi-purpose. According to the statistics of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), there are more than 80 small reactor technologies under development worldwide, and the United States, Russia, the United Kingdom, Japan, South Korea and other nuclear power countries have included small reactor technologies in their national strategies.
Linglong No. 1 is a major achievement of China's independent innovation of nuclear power after Hualong No. 1, which fills the domestic gap and has broad global market prospects, and is expected to become another beautiful "national business card". The world's first onshore modular small nuclear reactor is controlled by China Nuclear Power Investment, a subsidiary of China National Nuclear Corporation, and constructed and operated by Hainan Nuclear Power. After the project is completed and put into operation, it is expected that the annual power generation capacity will reach 1 billion kWh, which can meet the needs of 52Electricity demand for 60,000 households. At the same time, it can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 880,000 tons per year, which is equivalent to planting 7.5 million trees a year, which can not only help China's "double carbon" goal be achieved as soon as possible, but also continue to promote the safe development of nuclear power and independent innovation, and provide green energy guarantee for the construction of Hainan Free Trade Port and Ecological Civilization Demonstration Zone.
