Lu Qiguo: According to my thoughts

According to my thinking, I can understand "me"; According to my thoughts, I can know "people".

There is a famous Phoenix Ancient City in Xiangxi, and there is a Tingtao Mountain less than a kilometer away from the Phoenix Ancient City; Walking up the stairs from the mountain, you can see a rustic tombstone after a while—this is the burial place of Shen Congwen's ashes, and it is also the place where he rests and rests. The front of the tombstone is engraved with Shen Congwen's sixteen-character motto: "According to my thinking, I can understand 'me';."According to my thoughts, I can know "people". On the back of the tombstone is a couplet written by Shen Congwen's aunt Zhang Chonghe: "Do not fold or obey, and be kind and let; The stars are their texts, and their children are naked. "Yes, Shen Congwen is a writer rather than a thinker, and he did not leave a purely ideological work. But this does not mean that he is not deeply involved in "thinking (thinking)". No one should doubt the wisdom of a writer who wants others to "think as I think" and who understands "me" and then "people". As far as expressing romantic love with young people is concerned, the love letter written by Shen Congwen to Zhang Zhaohe back then was by no means a secular charm and a beautiful and rippling beauty, but wrote meaningfully: "I have walked on bridges in many places, seen clouds many times, and drank many kinds of wine, but I have only loved a person of the best age." ”

It is true that a person's mind does not fall into a vacuum. Earlier, the young Shen Congwen was able to enter the newspaper as a proofreader because of his reading and writing expertise. He met a young colleague with a progressive mind at the newspaper. It was this young colleague who told him that the most important thing in writing vernacular essays is to "have thoughts", and no articles can be written without thoughts. On the recommendation of this young colleague, Shen Congwen began to pay attention to New Wave magazine and other progressive books. Later, Shen Congwen mentioned in his article "A Turning Point" written in August 1931 that after reading these new books and periodicals, he thought that "compared with knowledge and power, I am willing to get wisdom and let go of power." And that people should "think about others in the present, for future human beings, and how they should think about life." Shen Congwen once wrote a biography of Hu Yepin, one of the five martyrs of the Left League, "Remembering Hu Yepin", and at the end of the article, he used life and death to think about the ideal and value of life: "If a person is born without feeling that he exists for himself, he has lived seriously, and his death is only the end of himself." And he said, "I think that if this man were to die, his spirit would be more like a living man than many of the people who are said to be alive at this time." This may also be a cultural code behind our interpretation of Shen Congwen's interpretation today, from understanding "me" to knowing "people", and the meaning behind "making people from the text".
