Born in France in 1956, Holt read all of Agatha Christie's works as a young man and aspired to become a mystery writer. As an adult, Holt joined the French Marine Corps, sold insurance, worked as an electrical engineer, and even used his spare time as a guitarist to supplement his income.
Holt has written more than 40 works, mostly on the subjects of the secret room and the impossible crime. He is extremely good at creating an eerie supernatural atmosphere, and his works often contain supernatural elements such as ghosts, magic, demons, and psychics, but he can give logical and rigorous answers. Holt used his superb ability to structure stories, exquisite mood-building techniques, and perfect combination of trickery and supernatural elements to conquer a large number of readers.
