Wu Xiuquan left homeyear, mother and son met with surprise.
At the end of 1949, Wu Xiuquan, who had been away from his hometown for 24 years, finally had the opportunity to return to his hometown, where he was haunted by his dreams, to see the Yangtze River that he missed day and night, to visit his relatives who had nurtured him, and to reunite with his childhood playmates and classmates.
The family worked in a small organization under the Yamen of the Governor of Huguang and lived a well-off life, but in the Xinhai Revolution in 1911, their economy was cut off, and they could only sell their property to support their lives, and eventually became poor.
However, even in such a difficult situation, the mother was still pleasantly surprised by the return of her son after a long absence.
Although his family is poor, his emphasis on education has never diminished. Through self-study and exams, he stood out in the free school and became a transfer student in the second semester of the second grade of primary school, when he was 12 years old.
Despite his late enrollment, he obtained his diploma during the three years of study at the Wuchang Higher Normal School. When he was in the fifth grade at the Primary School Attached to the High School, he became acquainted with Chen Tanqiu, a representative of the party, and was influenced by revolutionary ideas, which also became his guide on the road of revolution.
In 1924, he graduated from high school, and although he was about to become an apprentice, he took an examination for a book club and was successfully accepted, and began to support himself. His classmates were very sorry to learn that he had dropped out of school, so several classmates from well-off families pooled money in the hope that he could go to school with them.
He accepted their help and enrolled in the High School Affiliated to Wuchang High School, and sometimes received financial assistance from his classmates for living expenses.
During his studies, he also took an active part in the activities of the leaders and lived a life that was both a study and a revolutionary. In 1925, he was promoted to the second grade of the High School Attached to the Higher Normal School, and the organization talked to him and decided to send a group of young party members, Communist Youth League members and progressive youth to study in the Soviet Union.
He told his family the good news, and his parents supported him to go abroad for further study, but he didn't expect that this trip would be 24 years. Speaking of his mother, she gave birth to 8 children and only 2 daughters.
After her father lost his job, she had to go out to earn a living and take on the burden of the family alone. In addition to cooking, laundry, and sewing, I also have to take care of the elderly and children, and I spend every day busy.
When Wu Xiuquan was 40 years old, she suffered the loss of her father, and her three elder brothers also passed away one after another, leaving her with the pain of life and death while also having to bear the declining family alone.
In 1949, when she found her home after a 24-year absence, only her youngest brother and two older brothers remained, and the remaining six siblings had all died.
When her son, who had been absent for 24 years, suddenly appeared in front of his mother, she was shocked and more joyful. During the time the two spent together, he told his mother about his experience.
In the face of his mother's dedication and dedication, he could not express his gratitude in words. All he can do is spend more time with his mother and make her feel warm and cared for.
Even in his dreams, he was by his mother's side, telling the untold stories of the past. He had planned to stay at home for a few more days, but a telegram summoned him back to Beijing to work.
However, his mother lived a long life, and she accompanied him for more than thirty years, until he died at the age of 104.
