During the winter vacation without the supervision of teachers, the children's exposure to electronic video products such as mobile phones and computers increased, coupled with incorrect writing postures, etc., and some children even experienced a rapid increase in myopia in just two months of winter vacation. How to scientifically protect the eyes and prevent myopia during the winter vacation of children of different school ages, Zhao Huiying, deputy chief physician of the Department of Ophthalmology of Beijing Geriatric Hospital, reminded the following children.

Preschool (3-6 years old).

At this stage, the visual system is in a critical period of rapid development, and caring for children's visual health should be scientifically guided with the goal of making them grow up happily.

Studies have shown that outdoor activities are effective in preventing and controlling myopia. Parents should encourage and lead their children to participate in play-based outdoor activities or simple sports, and ensure that they spend more than two hours a day outdoors.

At this stage, too much exposure to electronic screens can cause irreversible eye damage. Therefore, parents should pay attention to guiding children aged 3-6 to avoid touching and using mobile phones, computers and other video electronic products as much as possible.

Preschool children should not read and write, parents should not arrange too many reading and writing tasks for children, and children should be reminded to keep a distance of more than 50 cm when they look at them closely. For children learning piano and other musical instruments, the font of the sheet music should be as large as possible to ensure the illumination of the ambient light during practice, and the continuous practice time should not exceed 20 minutes each time.

Children with abnormal vision should make full use of the vacation time to see a doctor as soon as possible and complete eye examinations such as axial measurement and optometry.

Parents can complete the following ** with their children every day to encourage them to develop good habits.

Primary school (6-12 years old).

During the winter vacation, parents should help their children maintain good habits and actively prevent the occurrence or rapid development of myopia. Create conditions for children to participate in more outdoor activities, such as playing football, long-distance running, hiking, etc., and the cumulative time of outdoor activities should reach more than two hours a day.

When completing learning tasks, parents should provide their children with a scientific reading and writing environment. Ensure sufficient light illumination; The desk should be placed so that its long axis is perpendicular to the window, natural light should come in from the opposite side of the writing hand during the day, avoid direct sunlight, and the average illumination value of the desktop should not be less than 300 lux. When the light is insufficient, the lamp is used to assist in lighting, and children and teenagers are equipped with table lamps that have passed the national compulsory product certification (i.e. CCC certification) and placed in front of the opposite side of the writer to avoid glare.

Remind children to maintain standard reading and writing postures and habits, so that the book is one foot away from the eyes, the chest is one fist away from the table, and the fingers holding the pen are one inch away from the tip of the pen. It is forbidden for children to read while lying on the bed or sofa, and not to read in the rocking carriage.

When parents choose reading materials for their children, try to choose matte paper reading materials. The reading materials for the lower grades of primary school should be mainly in large font**, and the font of reading materials for the upper grades of primary school should not be too small. Remind children to control the time of continuous reading and writing, and no more than 20 minutes of continuous reading and writing for elementary school students in the lower grades, and no more than 30 minutes of continuous reading and writing for primary school students in the upper grades. Rest should be done outdoors or overlooked. Avoid taking up your time off from activities such as cartoons and video games.

Strictly control the use time of video electronic products to minimize unnecessary use of video electronic products. Students with abnormal vision during the winter vacation should be taken to a regular medical institution for further examination and confirmation, and follow the doctor's instructions for scientific intervention and correction.

Secondary school (12-18 years old).

When children enter adolescence and have a sense of independence, parents should encourage and guide their children to establish the awareness that "everyone is the first responsible person for their own health" and take the initiative to participate in the prevention and control of myopia. At this stage, the child's academic pressure increases, and the balance between learning and life should be achieved, and the prevention and control of myopia should be adhered to.

During the winter vacation, you should participate in outdoor activities as much as possible, actively participate in sports, and mediate stress in a timely manner. Keeping in mind the "20-20-20" rule, use your eyes at close range for 20 minutes, paying attention to distant objects 20 feet (6 meters) away for 20 seconds to relax your eyes. Control the amount of time you can read and write continuously, and try not to exceed 40 minutes at a time.

Most middle school students have their own mobile phones, computers and other electronic products, and parents should guide their children to consciously control the use of video electronic products and reduce the use of video electronic products for non-learning purposes. When you need to learn online, it is advisable to choose large-screen electronic products such as TVs and desktop computers, and choose electronic products with high screen resolution in the case of the same screen size. The ** distance of the TV is not less than 4 times the diagonal distance of the screen, the ** distance of the computer ** is not less than 50cm, and the ** distance of the mobile phone is not less than 40cm.

Parents of students with abnormal vision should take them to the hospital for further examination and confirmation. Try to recheck every six months to scientifically control the development of myopia and prevent children from developing high myopia. At present, there are no proven effective myopia** drugs or health care products, so you should not rush to the doctor.

Parents of primary and secondary school students can remind their children to complete the following ** every day and urge their children to develop good eye care habits.
