This chess game made from LEGO bricks cleverly combines classic gameplay with innovative design to add infinite fun and challenge to your game. If you're looking for a table décor that's both practical and aesthetically pleasing, this piece is definitely worth a look.
On February 24, 2024, the ".Chess Tower, which received wide support on the LEGO IDEAS platform, successfully won 10,000 votes, and became the 22nd entry selected in the first round of IDEAS review in 2024. The results of the review are expected this summer.
Here, we introduce you to this tower-shaped chess game made by Ferbrick1 and see how this ancient board game has been loved by 10,000 IDEAS users in the form of LEGO.
Ferbrick1 knew that to recreate chess with the popular LEGO bricks, a unique design concept had to be introduced. It has become commonplace to simply copy common chessboards and pieces, and many works have adopted this tedious approach. As a result, he took a very creative approach.
He designed a collapsible chessboard, like a traditional chess board, consisting of 8 8 squares, with a total of 64 squares. But the magic is that each square is equipped with a bendable hinge structure, which allows the otherwise flat checkerboard to be bent into an arc shape. Around this rounded chessboard, Ferbrick1 also cleverly designed a core tube structure for placing the chessboard and chess pieces.
Inside the core, there are five platforms supported by slender stick parts, which not only make it convenient to store the chess pieces, but also to make it easy for players to take them out.
This set of chess contains a total of 32 chess pieces, divided into black and white, each color includes 8 pawns, 1 king, 1 queen, 2 horses, 2 elephants, and 2 rooks. Unlike Chinese chess, chess pieces are mainly identified by their appearance. Ferbrick1 uses LEGO bricks to accurately reproduce the characteristic shape of each chess piece to achieve maximum realism.
The top of the core is designed like a castle battlement, which echoes the background of the story of the struggle between the two kingdoms behind the chess, and a handle is designed at the top to make it easy for players to remove the pieces. The ingenuity of the whole work lies in the fact that when the chessboard is unfolded around the core, the whole set of chess becomes a tower with a medieval atmosphere.
The author of this work is named Ferbrick1, who is low-key and mysterious and does not introduce himself too much, and is good at the creation of mechanical, model, and remote control works in Lego bricks, and has little information revealed to the outside world. All we know is that Ferbrick1 joined the ideas platform two years ago, and more information about him remains a mystery.
After 523 days of waiting since its submission on September 19, 2022, Ferbrick1's "Chess Tower" finally received 10,000 votes on February 24, 2024, and successfully advanced to the review stage. This marks the first time that Ferbrick1 has joined the coveted "10,000-Vote Club" and brought new vitality to the club.
Playing chess not only helps us to think independently, develop imagination and study habits, but also enhance our imagination and hands-on skills. Combining the two in innovative and fun ways can not only be more entertaining, but also make the gaming experience more varied.
In addition, Ferbrick1's work is not just a simple reproduction of the traditional chess shape, but a profound interpretation of the "creativity" theme of the IDEAS platform. In the author's opinion, it is highly likely that this piece will stand out in the review and become a formal set. What do you think?
