In October 2023, total shipments of digital cameras stood at 805% (76 in monetary terms.)9%), both in volume and in amount, significantly lower than last year. April and May 2023 significantly exceeded the previous year's supply, and from June onwards to October, the supply volume remained similar to the previous year, but in November it dropped sharply.
Among the shipments of cameras, fixed-lens cameras were 75 in the same month last year8% (91 based on shipment value.)5%), which is better than October, but remains sluggish. Interchangeable lens cameras have sold well so far, but in November compared to the same period last year it was only 819% (75 per shipment amount.)4%), both in terms of shipments and the value of shipments were significantly lower than last year.
Among the interchangeable mirror cameras, 86,575 DSLR cameras were shipped (only 526%), and 415,342 mirrorless cameras (927%), which was previously the fastest-growing mirrorless camera, also saw a decline in November.
In terms of shipments by region of the world, Japan was 72 units in the same month last year6%, 94 in China3% and 74 percent in Asia excluding Japan and China2% and 66 in Europe2% and 96% in the Americas0% and 75 in other regions1%, a decrease in all regions compared to the same period last year. That said, the decline was particularly large in Japan and Europe. Japan developed well in October, and the situation changed a lot in November.
