According to the plan, China will achieve a manned landing on the moon by 2030 to carry out scientific exploration, and at present, the Mengzhou spacecraft, the lunar lander and the Long March 10 carrier rocket have fully entered the stage of initial sample development, and all work is progressing smoothly.
According to the preliminary plan for a manned lunar landing announced by the China Manned Space Engineering Office, two Long March 10 carrier rockets will be used to send the lunar lander and the Mengzhou spacecraft to the Earth-Moon transfer orbit in the future manned lunar landing missions.
Ji Qiming, Assistant Director of the China Manned Space Engineering Office: The two vehicles rendezvous and dock in the orbit around the moon, the astronauts enter the lander, and the lander sends the astronauts to the lunar surface, and the astronauts carry out scientific investigation and sample collection on the lunar surface as planned. After completing the scheduled task, the astronauts ascended to the circumlunar orbit on the lunar lander, the two vehicles rendezvoused and docked again, the astronauts transferred the lunar samples to the spacecraft, and the spacecraft returned to the earth from the moon-to-earth transfer orbit.
According to Ji Qiming, the implementation of the manned lunar exploration project will be carried out step by step in accordance with the development of the plan, the development of initial and regular samples, unmanned flight tests, and manned lunar flight missions. China has completed the key technology research and program development work by the end of 2023, and at present, the research and construction work is being stepped up.
Ji Qiming, assistant director of the China Manned Space Engineering Office: At present, the Long March 10 carrier rocket, the Mengzhou manned spacecraft, the lunar lander, the lunar landing suit, and other major vehicles have completed the development work in the program stage, and have entered the stage of initial sample development in an all-round way, and the development, production, and ground experiments of the first sample products are being carried out in an orderly manner. The overall technical scheme of astronaut TT&C communication, launch site, landing site and other systems has been completed. The scientific research and application system and the lunar activity support system are stepping up the development of lunar scientific payloads and manned lunar rovers. The construction of the new test and launch facilities and equipment at the Wenchang launch site will also be fully started. On the whole, the manned lunar exploration project has been successfully carried out in the lunar landing stage.
