(GLOBE NEWSWIRE, Jan. 30, 2024) -- IBM announced that Korea Quantum Computing (KQC) has partnered with IBM to provide IBM's state-of-the-art artificial intelligence software and infrastructure, as well as quantum computing services. KQC's user ecosystem will have access to IBM's full-stack AI solutions, including WatsonX, an AI and data platform for training, adapting and deploying advanced AI models and software for enterprises.

IBM Quantum System Two (credit: IBM) KQC has also expanded its collaboration with IBM on quantum computing. KQC has been operating as the IBM Quantum Innovation Center since 2022, and it will continue to provide access to IBM global utility-scale quantum systems via the cloud. In addition, IBM and KQC plan to deploy IBM Quantum System Two at KQC site in Busan, South Korea by 2028. Through its partnership with IBM, KQC is providing multifunctional computing infrastructure in South Korea.

The collaboration includes investments in infrastructure to support the development and deployment of generative AI. Plans for AI-optimized infrastructure include advanced GPUs and IBM's Artificial Intelligence Units (AIUs), managed by Red Hat OpenShift, to provide a cloud-native environment. The combination of GPU systems and AIUs is designed to provide members with state-of-the-art hardware to advance AI research and business opportunities. In addition to IBM, KQC has partnered with other South Korean institutions to contribute to the country's quantum computing ecosystem.
