February** Dynamic Incentive Program
The Anfield Road Grandstand will not be fully open at the end of this month as originally planned
Due to delays caused by construction contractor Buckingham Group, the Anfield Road Grandstand was delayed from opening in batches until December for Liverpool's match against Manchester United, allowing Anfield Stadium to accommodate an additional 7,000 fans per game and a total capacity of 57,000.
However, there are still 4,000 seats still unoccupied. According to This Is Anfield, the initial goal of keeping the Anfield Road grandstand fully open by the end of January is likely to be frustrated, meaning that the Anfield Road grandstand will not be fully open for Liverpool's match against Chelsea.
Liverpool insiders have long believed that their plans will depend on the fate of Jurgen Klopp's side in domestic cup competitions. The Reds then added a game against Fulham at Anfield to the Carabao Cup semi-finals. They then host Norwich City in the FA Cup this Sunday. Construction work was temporarily halted due to these competitions, which also indirectly delayed the opening date of an additional 4,000 seats.
It remains to be seen if the Anfield Road Grandstand will be fully open in time for the Premier League clash with Burnley on 10 February. Senior figures at Anfield remain reluctant to commit to a new full opening date and insist the timing remains "uncertain".
