Later this year, BMW will launch a new M5 sedan based on the **5 Series. Meanwhile, a station wagon based on the M5 will make its debut later this year, which BMW has given the nickname "Touring". According to foreign reports, the M5 Touring will go on sale in 2025, and at the same time, there will be a regular 5 Series station wagon and an electric i5 station wagon to join the market.
The M5 Touring is expected to stand out from the crowd and have few direct competitors. Mercedes-Benz AMG has announced that the E 63 Wagon will no longer be available, and Audi's RS 6 **Ant is also on the verge of retirement. Although RS 7**ANT may succeed RS 6**ANT, its availability has not yet been determined. A smaller RS 5 **ant is also in the works, but its launch is also up in the air.
The M5 Touring will be another M5 touring car launched by BMW, following the E34 M5 Touring in the late 80s and early 90s and the E60 M5 Touring in the 00s. The new car will feature the powertrain version of the BMW XM super SUV debut, becoming a plug-in hybrid. According to the BMW blog, the powertrain will be combined with a twin-turbo 4A 4-liter V-8 and a single motor integrated with the transmission deliver exceptional power in the M5 with 718 horsepower. While the output is slightly less than the top-of-the-line XM Label Red, which is slightly less powerful than the top-of-the-line XM Label Red, BMW is still likely to launch a more powerful M5 CS variant.
