They are the "fairy heroes" in the medical field, and when they were alive, the husband and wife rejuvenated themselves and cured countless patients of incurable diseases.

After their death, they donated their bodies to Kunming Medical University in Yunnan Province, and continue to shine in such a special way.

Who are these "medical couples", and what kind of touching stories do they have?

The children's confusion.

In Kunming, Yunnan Province in 2000, Li Bingquan and Hu Suqiu had a fierce quarrel with their son. It turned out that the second elder wanted to donate his body to Kunming Medical University in Yunnan Province for scientific research after his death.

In the current view, donating one's body to a hospital for scientific research is not a big deal. But 24 years ago, people paid attention to life, old age, sickness, death, and fallen leaves, and there was a resting place after death.

Because of this, the son did not understand his parents' approach very much, and raised a strong objection: "Mom and Dad, if you really donate your body, what if we go to ** worship you in a hundred years?" ”

Not only was his son opposed, but even his relatives and friends expressed great incomprehension after hearing about the second elder's decision. But even in the face of many opposition, Li Bingquan and Hu Suqiu have always insisted on the idea in their hearts, saying that they must donate their bodies after their deaths.

I have been a doctor all my life, and after I die, I will use this 'stinky skin' to make some contributions to medicine. After dissection, it is made into a skeleton for teaching. ”

Finally, 14 years after their death, the two old people who had walked hand in hand for a lifetime reunited in a special way at Kunming Medical University in Yunnan.

A "medical couple" who came out of the training

In 1922, Li Bingquan was born in Tengchong, Yunnan. When Li Bingquan was born, it was an era of war and chaos, and the common people not only did not have enough to eat, but also had nowhere to treat when they were sick.

Li Bingquan's parents died one after another because of a serious illness. The death of his parents hit the young Li Bingquan very hard, which also made him firm in his obsession with becoming a doctor when he was very young.

After the death of his parents, the young Li Bingquan followed his brother and sister-in-law to rely on each other, fortunately, his brother and sister-in-law treated Li Bingquan very well, and they also had to support Li Bingquan's ideal of studying medicine.

In this way, with the support of his brother and sister-in-law, Li Bingquan embarked on the road of study. In 1941, after a long period of hard study, Li Bingquan was admitted to the National Yunnan University Medical School with excellent results and began his university medical career.

But it was at this time that the unexpected happened suddenly. In 1941, when the situation of the Anti-Japanese War was at its most severe, Li Bingquan's hometown Tengchong was occupied by the Japanese invaders.

Because of this reason, Li Bingquan lost contact with his brother and sister-in-law, and also lost the economy of studying abroad. However, fortunately, Li Bingquan's academic performance is very good, and after learning about his situation, the school also gave various bonuses and subsidies to help Li Bingquan complete his studies.

This study experience was deeply imprinted in Li Bingquan's mind. Although the conditions for studying were very difficult, Li Bingquan never forgot his goal.

He studied medicine very seriously every day in medical school, and often went to the off-campus teahouse to continue reading books after the library closed.

After a long period of hard study, Li Bingquan continued to grow and eventually became a very good medical student. At the end of the six-year course, Lee was one of only seven people in his class.

In the process of studying at university, Li Bingquan not only enriched his knowledge and experience, but also got to know the love of his life. Once in the library, Li Bingquan met a girl named Hu Suqiu.

When they met for the first time, Li Bingquan was deeply attracted to Hu Suqiu, so he pursued Hu Suqiu.

However, Hu Suqiu's identity is not ordinary, her father Hu Ying is one of the organizations of the Wuchang Uprising, and he also served as the acting chairman of Yunnan Province in ***, on the other hand, Li Bingquan is just a poor boy from the countryside.

But Hu Suqiu didn't have any opinions at all, but favored the diligent and studious Li Bingquan. When Hu Suqiu later recalled this incident, he once said: "I chose Li Bingquan because he was different from others, he was so diligent and inquisitive, so idealistic and ambitious. ”

In this way, this pair of lovers who are interested in each other entered the palace of marriage in 1949, and since then a good story of "medical couple" has begun.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Li Bingquan and Hu Suqiu, husband and wife, were hired by the Affiliated Hospital of Yunnan University Medical College at the same time and became the first batch of doctors in New China.

As doctors, Li Bingquan and Hu Suqiu's work is very busy. Human life is at stake, every time they encounter an emergency patient, no matter what time it is at night, Li Bingquan and Hu Suqiu will put on white coats and rush to the hospital as soon as possible.

The couple gave birth to a total of three children after marriage. But because the work is too busy, the couple has very little time to spend with their children.

Even if there are times when parents come home from the hospital, and the family sits together to eat and chat, the parents talk about the patient's condition and other work in the hospital, which is really negligent in taking care of the children.

For example, once, after the eldest daughter came home from school, she found her younger brother fainting on the ground unconscious, unable to wake up no matter how she screamed, and her whole body was cold.

At that time, Li Bingquan and Hu Suqiu were not at home because of work, and the eldest daughter, who was a little older, was so anxious that she hurriedly carried her younger brother to the hospital for treatment.

After arriving at the hospital, the eldest daughter learned that her younger brother was suffering from severe poisoning dysentery, and his condition was already very critical when he was sent to the hospital, and his life would even be in danger if he arrived later.

By the time Li Bingquan and Hu Suqiu learned about this incident and hurried home, their youngest son's condition had gradually stabilized. Li Bingquan and Hu Suqiu naturally wanted to stay with their son all the time and take care of his condition.

But there was no way, at the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China, there was an urgent shortage of medical resources, and for the sake of the country and the lives and health of more patients, the husband and wife had to make a choice between work and family.

Not only for their families, but after getting busy, Li Bingquan and Hu Suqiu didn't care about their bodies, so both of them left a lot of hidden diseases in their bodies.

Especially his wife Hu Suqiu, because of long-term fatigue and not getting enough rest after childbirth, the abdomen surgery alone was carried out three times.

And once during a hysterectomy, Hu Suqiu had a very critical hemorrhage, but even so, Hu Suqiu, who was rescuing a critically ill patient at the time, could not appear by his wife's side in time.

For these, Li Bingquan and Hu Suqiu actually know very well in their hearts that since they have chosen the path of doctors, they are bound to make sacrifices.

Therefore, Hu Suqiu never complained about her husband, but always supported her husband's work, and when she was working, she also took her husband as an example and tried her best to treat the disease and save people.

Reunited in a special way.

From 1949 to 1993, after working for 44 years, Li Bingquan finally chose to retire at the age of 71.

Although Li Bingquan still wants to continue to stay in the post of a doctor and shine and solve incurable diseases for more patients, his physical condition no longer allows him to continue practicing medicine after he gets older.

However, after retirement, Li Bingquan did not give up his medical career, he still attended hospital consultations in his spare time, read through medical books, and taught his years of medical experience to the younger generation of doctors.

After entering his old age, Li Bingquan gradually had an idea in his heart, he wanted to donate his body for medical research after his death.

It turned out that in 1954, Li Bingquan had studied in Qingdao Medical College for a period of time. In Qingdao Medical College, there is a "special" teacher, a "speechless teacher" (the honorific title of the medical profession for body donors), and also the body of Professor Shen Fupeng.

As a doctor, Li Bingquan actually knows the situation of "speechless mentors" very well. For doctors, using human bone specimens to study medical skills is the best way to accumulate medical experience.

However, at that time, the stock of bone specimens in Chinese medical schools was very small. This may be because in the traditional concept of our country, "the dead are greater", and people believe that after death, they should return to their roots and have a resting place.

But Li Bingquan doesn't think so, he thinks that if he can still contribute to medical research after his death, it is very worthwhile.

So he told his wife Hu Suqiu his thoughts. As a medical worker, Hu Suqiu can understand Li Bingquan's thoughts very well, and said that after his death, he will donate his body for medical research, just like her husband.

But the second elder's approach was not understood by the children, who never understood why their parents had to let themselves not be "at peace" after their deaths.

In the face of many obstacles, Li Bingquan and Hu Suqiu worked hard to do the ideological work of their children. In the end, the children understood and respected their parents' choice.

In March 2005, Li Bingquan passed away in Kunming, and his children donated his body to Kunming Medical College in accordance with his will. After the death of Lee Byung-kwon, his wife, Hu Suqiu, carried on his legacy and continued to work in medicine until he retired at the age of 85.

On December 21, 2015, at the age of 93, Hu Suqiu died without illness. On September 25, 2019, under the arrangement of Kunming Medical University, Hu Suqiu's bone specimen and Li Bingquan's skeletal specimen were placed together.

After a lapse of 14 years, the "medical couple" finally reunited. They will also remain in people's hearts as "silent teachers"!
