BEIJING, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Premier Li Qiang met with a delegation from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce led by U.S. Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Clark at the Great Hall of the People on the morning of Feb. 28.

Li Qiang said that since the China-US summit in San Francisco in November last year, the two sides have carried out a series of dialogues and communication to promote practical cooperation between the two countries. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States, and President and Biden exchanged congratulatory letters, emphasizing their continued commitment to stabilizing and developing China-US relations for the benefit of both countries and the world. Over the past 45 years, cooperation has repeatedly proven that cooperation between China and the United States benefits both sides, while fighting hurts both, and cooperation is the only right choice. Based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, China is ready to work with the US to implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state and promote the sound and steady development of bilateral relations.

Li Qiang pointed out that China and the United States are highly complementary in their economies, their interests are deeply integrated, and both sides benefit from each other's development, and strengthening economic and trade cooperation is a win-win situation for both countries. The two sides should be partners, not rivals. Engaging in various forms of "decoupling and breaking chains" and "small courtyards and high walls" is not in the fundamental interests of both sides, and will only cause huge losses to the enterprises, economies and even global development of the two countries. China is comprehensively promoting Chinese-style modernization with high-quality development, and will continue to unleash huge demand in advanced manufacturing, new urbanization, consumption structure upgrading, and green and low-carbon transformation. China will continue to strive to create a first-class business environment that is market-oriented, law-based and internationalized, and provide more support and convenience for foreign companies from the United States and other countries to invest and do business in China. It is hoped that the American Chamber of Commerce and entrepreneurs will continue to play a role as a bridge to promote more communication and mutual understanding between the two countries.

Clark said the U.S.-China relationship is extremely important. I am glad that the two heads of state held a successful meeting in San Francisco, and that the relations between the two countries are showing momentum of improvement. U.S.-China decoupling is not a viable option, and China is welcome to open up further. The American Chamber of Commerce is willing to play the role of a bridge, conduct candid and constructive communication and exchanges with China, make efforts to deepen U.S.-China economic and trade relations and mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the stable development of U.S.-China relations.

Wu Zhenglong attended the meeting. (ENDS).
