By the end of 2023, 31 provinces across the country have set up provincial-level radio and television network companies, nearly half of the provinces have achieved the integration of "one province and one network", and the vast majority of county-level network users have been integrated in place, providing the necessary technology and network foundation for large-scale, intensive, and intelligent operation.
China Radio and Television has launched the Internet backbone network (CBNET) and content integrated broadcast control platform, and accelerated the upgrading and transformation of cable TV networks and the construction of high-quality radio and television 5G networks, and the overall transformation of cable networks to "cable + 5G" networks.
In terms of cable TV network, China Radio and Television has completed the construction of two regions, 4 nodes and 31 access provincial user planes in the north and south of the core network and network cloud resource pool, and built 1 radio and television cloud platform + 8 main core switching nodes + 31 edge nodes in provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions across the country, realizing the pattern of first-class deployment, cloud-side integration, one-cloud unified management, and national coverage.
In terms of radio and television 5G network construction, China Radio and Television has completed the migration of 700MHz frequency and the construction of single-frequency network networking, China Radio and Television has built more than 600,000 700MHz 5G base stations, and the number of 5G users of radio and television has exceeded 23 million.
By way of comparison, as of January 2024, China Mobile has 7 5G** customers8.9 billion households, and the number of 5G users of China Unicom is about 26.4 billion households, 3 of China Telecom's 5G ** users217.4 billion households.
In addition, China Radio and Television has promoted 5G channels in many places, and through set-top boxes, smart TVs, etc., it has collaborated with small screens such as mobile phones and tablets to achieve diversified TV services. By the end of 2023, a total of 1,115 high-definition channels and 10 ultra-high-definition channels have been launched by broadcasting institutions at and above the prefecture level across the country, and all provincial-level channels have achieved high-definition, and the high-definition rate of prefecture-level and county-level channels has reached % respectively.
According to a previous report by IT House, at about 4 a.m. on December 28, 2023, the China Radio and Television Internet Backbone Network (CBNET) was officially connected to the Internet backbone network of three basic telecom operators such as China Telecom, China Mobile, and China Unicom at the Shanghai direct connection point to achieve peer-to-peer direct connection and interconnection.
