Born today

Born in Fukuoka Prefecture in 1981. He graduated from Cheng'an University of Art and Design in 2004. He is currently an artist living in Kumamoto. The award-winning work, Life Today is a large, three-dimensional work depicting a residential complex made of cardboard. The author describes the work as "another world I created when I was a child, when I couldn't live my own life," adding, "I feel like half of my life has been affirmed by this award." The world is still getting bigger. ”

The examiner's evaluation of the work was as follows. It is the name of the 'town' where the author lived all his life. In this sense, it may not just be a 'work', but something created by the author's own hands. This is certainly true. The work created by the author transcends the work and becomes the creator himself. There's a sense of realism here that makes you realize that. Also pay attention to the detailed descriptions of the various materials. ”

Triangular pupil "This is a life." this is our life.》

Hitomi Triangea, winner of the Toshiko Award, was born in Nagano Prefecture in 1988. Graduated from the Graduate School of the Tokyo University of the Arts. This time, the work "This is a life." this is our life.It is a piece of polyester cloth embroidered with countless human faces, which represents the image of a person, "a genetically bound existence", and an irresistible essence. It is said that this is an objective representation of the blueprint.

Inspector Hijikata's comment: "Hitomi triangular was selected for the 19th Taro Award Exhibition. The work at that time was an installation composed of countless figures. A large number of disorderly stacked figures force the existence of individuals in modern society. This time it is an embroidery work, with a human face on the front and a red thread representing genes on the back, suggesting that the body is just a container, as if countless "individuals" embroidered on a thin cloth fold each other. The combination of the content of the presentation, the fresh approach and the presentation results in a convincing work. ”

The winners of the Special Prize are as follows:

Takeshi Ikeda, Nagasuki Hatsu, Kyoshi Koyama, Clementine Nutt, Tsukikosha, Kumiko Koyama, Zeng Huiru, Florian Gaden, Riki Murakami.

For this year's work, the judges gave the following evaluation:

There are a lot of works this year that I find empowering. The Taro Okamoto Award is called 'contemporary art', but it is not the same as 'contemporary art'. Taro loves art. This is because it is the only thing that can touch an infinite world. This time, I chose what opened that door. (Takigi Noki).

The TARO Award is an award that has no trends and countermeasures. Last year, we were very disappointed that we were unable to hand out the Grand Prize or Semi-Jackpot, and we were concerned about the future of the awards. But this year's level is very high, and judging from the first round of judging, we are very satisfied. There are a lot of vibrant works. (Yuji Yamashita).

It turned out to be a very good exhibition. This year, the winning and non-winning entries are very close and of very high quality. (and Dolly Koichi).

These are works that have gone through 30 times the difficulty, and are brought together by talented artists. You can see works with a destructive power that you can't see in other contemporary art exhibitions. (Akiji Hijikata).
